The Role
The MES / Manufacturing Systems Developer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting manufacturing execution systems and plant-floor applications. This role connects manufacturing processes, databases, automation controls, and information technology systems to improve production visibility, quality, traceability, uptime, and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will work closely with Controls Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Plant Operations, IT, Quality, Maintenance, and equipment suppliers. The role requires hands-on experience with SQL, Python, Rockwell Automation controls, industrial communications, and basic server installation and administration.
What You'll Do
  • Maintain and support mission-critical manufacturing servers and related applications.
  • Support the industrial SCADA system responsible for manufacturing operations.
  • Troubleshoot database issues in partnership with the Controls Engineering team.
  • Maintain and enhance the plant's part-tracking website using Python.
  • Support interfaces between databases, manufacturing systems, PLCs, SCADA, and plant-floor applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional plant teams to support continuous improvement, quality improvements, and general manufacturing support.
  • Analyze production data to identify process improvements, trends, abnormal conditions, and opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and uptime.
  • Assist with system upgrades, testing, validation, deployment, backups, monitoring, and recovery procedures.
  • Investigate system and production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, system diagrams, and standard work.
  • Provide onsite technical support to plant users, engineers, skilled trades, and manufacturing leadership.
  • Support controls, automation, and manufacturing engineering projects as required.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; equivalent working experience may be considered.
  • Basic to intermediate experience with SQL, including queries, joins, data validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of Python and web-based application development.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Experience with MES, SCADA, or other industrial manufacturing systems.
  • Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar database platforms.
  • Experience developing Python applications, websites, APIs, scripts, or automation tools.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley controls or Studio 5000.
  • Familiarity with PLC-to-database, SCADA-to-database, or MES-to-database interfaces.
  • Experience with Windows Server, application services, backups, monitoring, or virtualization.
  • Knowledge of industrial communications such as Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, or MQTT.
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing data to improve quality, throughput, downtime, or process performance.
  • Familiarity with version control, change management, testing, and software deployment practices.
  • Previous experience supporting production systems in an automotive or industrial manufacturing environment.

Compensation:
The expected base compensation for this role is: $83,800 - $127,300 Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential:
An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
