Job Description:
Leidos is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support mission-critical database, systems, and infrastructure operations at a Government customer site at Springfield, VA. The selected candidate will serve as a database subject matter expert, lead database efforts, and work independently to meet critical mission objectives in a secure, high-pressure enterprise environment.
The role requires deep hands-on experience with Oracle 19c, enterprise infrastructure, secure database deployments, and DoD-compliant systems. The DBA will collaborate with system administrators, storage administrators, network administrators, mission application teams, internal stakeholders, and external customers to resolve complex issues that span the application, database, operating system, network, and storage layers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Administer, monitor, and support Oracle 19c databases across production, development, and test environments.
- Lead database activities, including planning, assigning, tracking, documenting, and reporting task progress.
- Install, configure, maintain, document, and administer Oracle databases, mission software, and Oracle-related products to ensure optimum performance and system availability.
- Perform Oracle database installations on Linux and Windows, upgrades, patching, Release Updates, Critical Patch Updates, and fresh deployments.
- Manage and configure Oracle ASM and Oracle Grid Infrastructure.
- Install and maintain secure database connectivity using TCPS with SSL/TLS encryption.
- Migrate data, schema, and code from source databases while ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Analyze issues holistically from the application tier through the database, operating system, network, and storage layers.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune database performance using AWR, ASH, ADDM, execution plans, indexing strategies, and SQL optimization techniques.
- Perform daily operations and proactive monitoring, including space usage, log and dump file cleanup, database health checks, error correction, and performance reporting.
- Troubleshoot database, system, connectivity, listener, SQL*Net, TCPS certificate, DNS, firewall, and backup-related incidents.
- Perform backup and recovery using RMAN and support disaster recovery strategies.
- Implement and maintain DoD STIG compliance and system hardening for Oracle databases, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Windows Server environments.
- Remediate vulnerability findings identified through ACAS, SCAP, Nessus, and related security scans.
- Administer database security, including user roles and privileges, profiles and password policies, auditing, and compliance controls.
- Support Oracle Spatial and geospatial data implementations.
- Administer and optimize storage integration with NetApp storage systems and support virtualized environments using VMware.
- Use Oracle tools such as SQL*Plus, SQL Developer, and Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control or Cloud Control.
- Maintain documentation, standard operating procedures, security artifacts, and technical guidance for customer and contract stakeholders.
- Work effectively across IT functional boundaries and directly with customers to resolve complex database, systems, and infrastructure issues.
Basic Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a Polygraph.
- Security+ certification or ability to meet DoD 8570 compliance requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field and 12-15+ years of DBA experience, or Master's degree and 10+ years of DBA experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Oracle Database 19c or higher.
- Strong expertise with Oracle ASM and Oracle Grid Infrastructure.
- Experience administering Oracle databases on Linux, including RHEL/CentOS 7 and 8, and Windows Server 2019 Enterprise.
- Experience implementing DoD STIGs and performing database and operating system hardening.
- Knowledge of vulnerability remediation processes and experience addressing ACAS, SCAP, Nessus, or similar scan findings.
- Strong database performance tuning, troubleshooting, backup, recovery, and optimization skills.
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows-based systems.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts related to Oracle environments.
- Experience working independently with limited supervision while also collaborating effectively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented and comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Oracle OCP 19c certification.
- Experience with Oracle RAC and Data Guard.
- Experience with PostgreSQL databases.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and Microsoft Windows 10.
- Experience with Oracle Spatial and geospatial data.
- Experience with NetApp storage systems and VMware virtualization.
- Familiarity with RMF, ATO processes, and Authority to Operate documentation.
- Experience in classified or high-security DoD environments.
- Scripting skills using Bash, PowerShell, or similar tools.
- Prior experience with NGA or support to mission partners.
