The Database Administrator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, performance, data integrity, and user administration of the Carnival fleet’s marine asset systems, including AMOS, Oracle, Napa Elog, Infoship SQL, and ServiceNow. This role ensures the reliability, accuracy, and security of critical operational systems that support both shipboard and shoreside functions. Key responsibilities include optimizing system performance through SQL query development and analysis, partnering with IT teams and external vendors on infrastructure and technical support, maintaining compliance with cybersecurity and SOX monitoring requirements, and delivering system guidance and technical training to end users. This position also supports continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance system functionality, user experience, and operational efficiency..

 

Essential Functions:

  • Administer the CCL Marine Asset System, including all related modules, interfaces, and data synchronization processes, to ensure system availability, accuracy, and performance.

  • Coordinate data entry standards and governance practices to maintain clean data taxonomy, consistency, and overall data integrity across the system.

  • Monitor, log, and track all technical support requests received through the CCLMAST Support mailbox and help desk application, and partner with IT teams and system vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner.

  • Define and document system update specifications by collaborating with users and analyzing workflows, access needs, information requirements, and security considerations.

  • Provide day to day system and project support for shipboard and shoreside users within Hotel and Technical Operations, ensuring business continuity and effective user adoption.                

            

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Scope: Oversees the daily administration, performance, data integrity, and user access for AMOS, Oracle, Napa Elog, Infoship SQL, and ServiceNow across the Carnival fleet. Ensures these marine asset systems remain reliable, secure, and effective in supporting both shipboard and shoreside operations while partnering with IT, cybersecurity, SOX, and external vendors on ongoing system enhancements.            

  • Problem solving: Resolves system performance, data integrity, and access issues by analyzing SQL queries, troubleshooting configurations, and coordinating incident response across multiple platforms. Balances immediate operational support with long-term improvements by driving standardization, automation, and scalable technical solutions.

  • Impact: Directly supports the uptime, security, and accuracy of critical marine asset systems that enable fleet operations and informed decision-making. Strengthens operational efficiency, audit readiness, and user adoption through dependable system performance, compliance oversight, and continuous process improvement.

  • Leadership: Serves as the subject matter expert for marine asset systems, setting standards and best practices for administration, data quality, and system performance. Leads collaboration across internal teams and external vendors while providing user training, guiding change adoption, and promoting continuous improvement.

                                               

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Technology, Database Management, or a related field

  • Strong working knowledge of AMOS, Oracle, and Infoship SQL system administration and data management

  • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and query development using scripts and SQL

  • Ability to maintain data integrity, support system performance, and troubleshoot database or system-related issues

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including management, developers, IT support teams, vendors, and global stakeholders, to resolve asset management and operational issues

  • Working knowledge of user access controls, workflow requirements, and system security standards

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity controls, compliance requirements, and SOX monitoring practices

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and teamwork skills

  • Ability to provide technical support and user training to shipboard and shoreside teams

  • 5+ Years in marine systems administration, database management, or related operational systems support - Required

  • 1+ Year working with Oracle, AMOS, Infoship SQL, or similar enterprise asset management and maritime systems - Preferred                                                                                 

Travel: No or very little travel likely

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

 

This position is classified as “in-office.”  As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Monday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Fridays.  Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.

    • Sick Time – All full-time employees receive 80 hours of sick time each year.  Part-time with benefits employees receive time off based on the number of hours they work, with a minimum of 60 hours each year.
