How do we work?

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the comprehensive management of the organization's database infrastructure. The DBA ensures the reliability, integrity, and security of these systems. This role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders, third-party vendors, and various internal teams to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of database solutions. A proactive approach to database administration, including participation in an on-call rotation for production support, is essential.

In this role, you will:

• Design, implement, and manage database systems to ensure performance, reliability, and security, including conducting regular system audits, backups, and recovery processes to uphold data integrity and availability.

• Regularly monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement necessary adjustments.

• Apply patches and upgrades to maintain system stability.

• Conduct routine backups and establish and test recovery procedures to safeguard data integrity and availability.

• Collaborate with appropriate teams to establish and maintain security and compliance standards for all database systems.

• Provide operational and emergency support for database systems, diagnosing and resolving issues promptly.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation regarding database configurations, operations, and troubleshooting procedures.

• Implement automation for routine database tasks to enhance efficiency.

• Work with business stakeholders on projects to ensure timely delivery and minimal service disruption.

• Adhere to change management procedures to ensure compliance and maintain system integrity.

• Participate in post-mortem and root cause analysis to drive continuous improvement, evaluate new requirements for databases, contributing to technical design and the definition of standards.

• Utilize Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and AWS for database management and integration, ensuring seamless cloud operations.

• Employ tools like Liquibase and Flyway for managing database change automation.

• Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines to streamline database development and deployment processes.

What skillset you need, to be successful in this role:

• Demonstrated expertise in MySQL, with substantial knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL - minimum 3 years

• Proficiency in managing databases across various operating systems, including Linux and Windows.

• Strong scripting skills in languages such as SQL, Bash / Python, PowerShell

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and AWS, including infrastructure management using Terraform.

• Proficiency in backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.

Nice to have:

• Proficiency with tools like Flyway and Liquibase.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
