Role Overview
We are looking for a Database Administrator to join our team in supporting critical database replication operations and projects across global environments. This role is ideal for a strong DBA with hands-on experience in Linux/Unix administration, scripting, and distributed database platforms, and who is interested in working with IBM CDC replication technology.
In this position, you will provide operational support for DB2 replication activities during US night hours while also partnering with teams in the US and India on replication initiatives and project-based work. Because CDC replication is a highly specialized area, we are open to professionals who may not yet have deep IBM CDC experience but bring strong foundational skills in database administration, operating systems, and automation scripting. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
Provide operational support for DB2 replication activities during US night hours, ensuring timely issue identification, troubleshooting, and resolution
Support and maintain data replication processes across distributed database environments to ensure stability, consistency, and availability
Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot IBM CDC across Linux and Unix platforms
Configure, deploy, and maintain CDC instances, subscriptions, and end-to-end replication workflows
Perform hands-on DBA activities across source and target databases, including connectivity validation, schema review, replication readiness checks, and support for database changes impacting replication.
Analyze database objects, indexing, logging, and system performance to help optimize replication efficiency and overall database operations
Work closely with database, infrastructure, and application teams to diagnose and resolve issues affecting replication, database performance, or system stability
Develop, enhance, and maintain shell scripts to automate operational processes, monitoring, alerting, and recurring support activities
Perform Linux/Unix system-level diagnostics and resolve OS-related issues affecting replication services or database connectivity
Participate in replication-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, patching, environment refreshes, and implementation of new replication requirements
Partner with teams across Manila, US, and India to support ongoing operations and project delivery
Contribute to best practices in performance tuning, security, capacity planning, high availability, and operational support
Document configurations, support procedures, known issues, and technical solutions to improve team knowledge sharing and operational readiness
Provide on-call or after-hours support as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information and technology, or in a related field.
Experience in database administration across platforms such as DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other distributed database environments
Strong working knowledge of Linux and Unix administration, including system troubleshooting and performance tuning
Experience with shell scripting such as Shell, Bash, KornShell, or similar
Understanding of database structures, indexing, query analysis, and performance tuning
Ability to support database connectivity, schema changes, logging configurations, and other activities that impact replication
Exposure to data replication technologies or enterprise data movement tools is an advantage
Experience with IBM CDC is a plus, but not required
Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
Comfortable working with global teams and supporting environments aligned to US night hours
