Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Remote)

Weedmaps is looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer that is an experienced self-starter to begin ML practice and establish architecture, tools, infrastructure and processes to support our growing data science and ML needs.

You will use world-class engineering and machine learning techniques on real-world, internal, and external data to directly impact the evolution of the cannabis industry.

The impact you'll make:

  • You will build end-to-end machine learning solutions to bring models from conception to production.
  • Design, Implement and support an end-to-end ML pipeline across DEV, TEST, and PROD environments.
  • Design and deploy new models using advances in deep learning to iteratively improve Weedmap's business-critical models and systems
  • Be a ML thought partner to our stakeholders
  • Design text classification systems using standard NLP techniques to better understand products and customer behavior
  • You will develop high-impact solutions to support Weedmap's ambitious growth plans.
  • Cross-team collaboration with Product, Analytics and Engineering teams, participate in all phases of SDLC - product requirement gathering, design, development and support.

What you've accomplished:

  • 6-10+ years of relevant experience in Machine Learning, Data Science, Data/Software Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of ML pipelines, algorithms, statistical methods, and analytics to solve real-world engineering problems
  • Experience with training large-scale models and model deployment on cloud ML platforms (AWS Sagemaker, Google AI Platform, Databricks, MLFlow)
  • Experience with wrangling data, SQL, data pipelines, and working with large data sets.
  • Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language, Python/Spark/PySpark preferred.
  • Comfortable working in standard development tools and methodologies:  JIRA, Git/GitHub, Agile.
  • Experience with AWS, solid understanding of data/ML services offered and ability to recommend cost-effective solutions in and out of the box
  • Drive and maintain a culture of quality, innovation and experimentation
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience building, maintaining, performance tuning and deploying real-time streaming ETL workflows to production environments.
  • Masters or PhD in related discipline
