The BI Developer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, testing, deployment, and support of reports/dashboards. The BI Developer is an SME in the area of "real world" data visualization techniques and capabilities.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Extensive understanding of functional business areas supported
  • Communicate directly as needed with non-technical business users to understand business needs and related requirements for reports and dashboards
  • Produce deliverables by gathering information and understanding the business user needs and objectives
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications that will be used to develop reports and dashboards for both internal and external use (full lifecycle)
  • Proactively identify business needs and recommend related requirements for reports and dashboards
  • Build and manage reporting templates and dashboards that turn data into actionable information
  • Design, develop and support BI solutions including but not limited to dashboards, scorecards, operational and scheduled reports, ad-hoc queries and decision support
  • Write and maintain technical documentation to describe report development, logic, coding, testing, changes and corrections
  • Develop training and documentation for end-users as applicable
  • Maintain a high-level of data quality awareness which includes working proactively on identifying and improving data quality in order to address reporting gaps
  • Assist with internal, ad-hoc, and external required contractual recurring reporting as required
  • Take ownership and participate in BI projects as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in SQL Coding
  • Advanced hands-on SQL Skills, including stored procedures, functions, indexes, and views
  • PostgreSQL coding experience
  • Experience with ETL processes
  • Knowledge in best practices in visualization
  • Familiarity in working in Dev/Test/QA and prod environments


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Home location is in Eastern Time Zone or willingness to work business hours in Eastern Time Zone
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related degree or equivalent combination of education, technical training or work/military experience
  • Experience with BI tools, such as Cognos, Tableau, Qlik, or Power BI
  • Experience working in Scrum and Agile environments

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
