Job DescriptionResponsible for building and maintaining complex data assets that allow team of analytics professionals to develop advanced business analytics that drive Wellmark’s strategic business decisions. Provide technical support and reporting to Analysts/Scientists, including transforming and mapping data from raw data form into another format with the intent of making it more usable and valuable, identifying efficiencies or automation opportunities and other data enabled improvement recommendations.
QualificationsRequired:
- Bachelor’s degree in quantitative discipline such as statistics, mathematics, finance, accounting, computer science, engineering or economics.
- Less than 1-year hands-on experience or internship in a role pulling reports and analyzing data; experience with data discovery, profiling, cleansing, standardization and data quality management
- Ability to quickly learn new data sources and programming languages (e.g. SQL)
- Basic knowledge or experience with relational databases
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, excellent communicator, strong analytical/technical orientation
- Natural curiosity, and ability to drive business decisions and solutions
- Proactive self-starter with effective time management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize projects or tasks
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel with a strong emphasis in formulas, pivot tables and data visualizations
Preferred:
- Master's Degree
- Experience working with large data sets and spreadsheets
- Experience gathering and documenting business requirements
- Experience of cross functional activity in complex organizations with strong emphasis on influencing and collaboration
- Hands-on data analysis of databases and files using SQL dialects and programming languages (e.g. Python, Scala, Spark etc.)
- Experience with business intelligence/reporting/analytics platforms such as MS Power BI and Tableau etc.
- Proven ability to mine and query data across structured and unstructured data sets
Job Responsibilities
a. Wrangle data from a wide variety of data sets and assemble into normalized and enriched data assets that enables new insights, solutions, and visualizations.
b. Perform and document data profiling, quality assessment, source consolidation, aggregation and other data manipulation efforts, to understand data formats, source systems, file sizes, etc.
c. Develop simple, dependable automated reports and dashboards to surface key metrics that deliver information that is digestible and visually appealing.
d. Gather data set requirements from business analytics stakeholders in order to support downstream analysis.
e. Acquire, transform, map, and load data into a variety of data models. Responsible for documenting assigned data asset and dashboard architectures.
f. Create, update, and maintain documentation and procedures for sourcing, analyzing, and preparing internal reporting and presentations. Ensure the highest quality and integrity of data sources.
g. Other duties as assigned.
