The Missouri Data Team Manager oversees and contributes to the delivery of our student data work for EdOps’ Missouri Data clients. This position leads and continuously develops a team responsible for executing on our scope(s) of work across the state. The Data Team Manager for Missouri is charged with understanding our clients’ student data needs and meeting them through delivering on existing EdOps products with quality and in a manner consistent with our commitment to equity and anti-racism. 

Reports to the Director of Student Data overseeing MO. Location flexible (this is a remote position).

What you will do:

  • Service Quality and Consistency
    • Oversee the service delivery of our student data services for a portfolio of schools, with the goal of ensuring consistency in quality and client experience across schools.
    • Continuously evaluate and decide whether the product(s) being delivered to the overseen portfolio are meeting clients’ student data needs.
  • Team Management and Development
    • Manage a team of 3-4 staff delivering on the scope of work across the overseen schools. The exact staff type and count will be determined by the respective client count / mix. 
    • Participate in new staff hiring and recruitment across the Student Data team (not just for your own team).
    • Train, coach, and develop staff through standard training sessions and beyond, so that team members meet and exceed expectations for their role (including utilization expectations), are developing towards their goals, and ensuring staff are in compliance with EdOps’s standard approach to quality.
    • Guide and support team members’ career paths.
    • Create and maintain a collaborative, supportive, inclusive and fair culture.
  •  Direct Client Work 
    • Develop and maintain relationships with all clients in the overseen portfolio. 
    • Act as the first line of defense for client escalations.
    • For clients in your portfolio, engage in client work, which could include having a strategic conversation, recommending a process improvement, adding additional project management support, or adapting a resource or report for a school. 
    • Perform specialist level work as needed based on staffing and regional growth. 
  • Regional expertise and relationship management 
    • Maintain relationships with key partners in the region(s) overseen.
    • Understand regional requirements and approaches and disseminate those to the team.
    • Ensure client work is in compliance with region-specific best practices.

Other duties as assigned, which includes contributing to the onboarding of other managers, collaborating with internal patterns to develop and refine tools, and representing EdOps at conferences and industry events.

What you will accomplish:

  • By Year 1 you will: 
    • Sharpen your expertise in people management by leading a team of data analysts and specialists. 
    • Contribute to the development of the Data Team’s operational changes.
    • Solve small, real problems for schools on a daily basis.
    • Advise school leaders on nuanced data tools and resources used to track and interpret key school environment metrics (i.e., accountability scores, school expansion) and assessment results to achieve the schools’ long-term goals
    • Work with schools across Missouri in different stages of growth and with different academic models.
  • By Year 3 you will: 
    • Contribute to the development and refinement of EdOps’s standard data product, as well as our suite of best practices.
    • Sharpen your expertise in strategic school data (e.g., compliance procedures, academic requirements and process refinements). 
    • Develop close, trusting partnerships with executive school leadership which will allow you to provide the best advice and support.
    • Lead project-based or market development work beyond your school portfolio.
    • Continue to manage a team of data analysts and specialists.
    • Continue to solve real problems, small and large, for schools every day.

What you need:

  • Experience managing teams, ideally a team of analysts or data professionals in an education setting.
  • Experience as part of a School Leadership Team or working very closely with a School Leadership Team.
  • Comfort with the elements of school data management. Extensive expertise is not required, but experience navigating Student Information Systems (SIS), and reading and analyzing data reports are a must. Experience with Powerschool or Infinite Campus specifically preferred.
  • Intermediate Excel or GSheets knowledge, such as formulas like vlookups and sumifs.
  • Strong quantitative analysis, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills. Comfort presenting and explaining information (both verbally and in writing) to people with varying school data literacy. 
  • Strong organization and time management skills. General comfort with technology systems (e.g., Google suite). Typically, School Data Managers have 10-15 years of work or post-secondary educational experience.
  • Experience leading school improvement efforts.
  • Experience working in and/or supporting schools in Missouri.
