The Role
As a Strategist for the Data Team you will play a key role in maximizing the power of our data to help drive the MarketAxess business forward. You will work closely with sales, product, and trading teams to drive data-driven decision making and generate actionable insights for clients. This position requires a strong analytical mindset, python programming skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively.
How You'll Help Take Us There
- Work directly with sales teams to design and deliver data-driven content to our clients.
- Identify market needs and opportunities for new data products and enhancements
- Work with large data sets, to extract valuable insights and trends that can be monetized or utilized in sales strategies.
- Conduct statistical analyst and back testing of quantitative models to validate performance.
- Work close with the sales team to understand client requirements and tailor data solutions accordingly.
- Provide quantitative insights and support for client presentations and meetings.
- Leverage our rich dataset to deliver market insights to our clients.
- Collaborate with clients to demonstrate the value of our data offerings and quantitative strategies.
- Stay up to date on market trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape related to trading data.
What We’re Looking for
- 5+ years’ experience working in financial markets, ideally coming from a Fixed Income front office environment.
- Prior experience working in a data-driven research environment.
- Experience working with data, both in onboarding, cleaning, and curating data in databases as well as evaluation of data and presentation.
- Proficiency in programming, preferably Python, but ideally with experience of statically typed languages. Comfortable working with standard Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) tools in a collaborative environment (git/bitbucket/JIRA etc.)
- An ability to communicate advanced concepts in a concise and logical way.
- Proficiency in creating and using algorithms to meticulously investigate and work through large data sets and/or error-checking problems.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Preferred Master’s in an applied quantitative field, such as physics, quantitative finance, statistics, computer science or engineering.
- A self-starter should have ability to work independently as well as thrive in a team environment.

For job positions in NYC, NY, and other locations where required, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $135,000 USD to $185,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for annual cash incentives, equity, and other benefit programs.
