We are looking for an experienced data technologist to engage with some of the largest property and casualty insurance companies in North America and advise them on Guidewire’s innovative Data Platform with its purpose-built P&C insurance data model and repository providing curated historical data modeled for the P&C industry, with one unified view and automated raw change data processing.


During strategic sales events, you will articulate Guidewire's vision and craft sophisticated solution demonstrations while leading data-centric discussions that outline Guidewire Data Platform's holistic benefits and relationship to Guidewire Analytics, notably Explore. 


A successful Solution Consultant works side-by-side with our customers and prospects to find the right solution while ensuring that our product management and engineering staff are kept abreast of product strengths and weaknesses. This position requires a unique blend of insurance industry knowledge, core application technical knowledge, communication, presentation and demonstration skills, and a passion for data access, delivery, and organization. 


You will work in tandem with the sales executives to actively sell Guidewire's capabilities, with a focus on Data Platform and Explore. Our compensation structure provides a significant team bonus for achieving and exceeding objectives. Within the team bonus structure, we reserve a pool to reward outstanding individual contributions. 


Note: 35 - 50% travel is required for this role in the US and Canada, with some week-to-week variance.

Key Activities

  • Supporting the sales team as an authority on the technical and business aspects of our data platform and related analytics solutions throughout the sales cycle 
  • Serving as a pre-sales technical point-of-contact for customers and prospects
  • Conducting presentation and workshop sessions, both remote and in-person, outlining how Guidewire’s capabilities align with a customer’s broader ecosystem in a consultative approach 
  • Responding to requests for information or proposal (product sections) 
  • Partnering with clients' business and technical teams to ensure business objectives and requirements are met 
  • Identifying new platform requirements and collaborating with Product Management to craft solutions for those requirements 
  • Occasionally representing Guidewire for speaking engagements at trade shows, conferences, and industry meetings

Desired areas of expertise:

  • 5+ years demonstrated ability in data management and/or analytics field, either wrangling, modeling, or handling data
  • 5+ years software sales experience (P&C insurance preferred)
  • Experience within the insurance domain (P&C insurance in particular)
  • Experience with core P&C applications (InsuranceSuite in particular)
  • Familiarity with predictive modeling, machine learning and ChatGPT
  • Validated experience with relational database management systems (Oracle, SQL Server Postgres), logical and physical data modeling, ETL, data warehousing, modern data technologies (Kafka, S3, Parquet, Snowflake, ThoughtSpot, etc.) 
  • Demonstrable experience with SQL and SQL-based tools such as Tableau
  • Experience with geospatial data and systems 
  • General knowledge of enterprise software technologies (Java, Bitbucket, TeamCity, Kubernetes, Datadog, Delphix, AWS, etc.)
  • Experience presenting to departmental leaders and senior customer executives 
  • Confirmed ability to understand business process needs and to conceptualize which requirements are satisfied through our solutions 
  • Tech-savvy and should learn quickly and adapt to the use of new tools
