As an Engineer II (Data/Software) at JPMorgan Chase within the Global Finance Technology team of Corporate Technology, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver both data collection, storage, access, and analytics and software solutions in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of the engineering team, you execute solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.
You'll organize, update, and maintain data and software components, making them actionable and secure. You'll write high-quality code, design and update data models, and apply your knowledge of the software and data lifecycles to deliver impactful products. You'll contribute to a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.
Job responsibilities
  • Organize, update, and maintain gathered data and software components to make them actionable and secure
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of data and software system components to determine controls needed for secure data access and development
  • Be responsible for making custom configuration changes in one to two tools to generate a product at the business or customer request
  • Execute standard solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting for both data and software products
  • Updates logical or physical data models based on new use cases with minimal supervision
  • Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language such as Python or Java with limited guidance
  • Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation
  • Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity
  • Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle and data management functions to improve automation and value
  • Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development. Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification in Software Engineering concepts and 2+ years of experience in creating data aggregation pipelines or in software development.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages such as Python or Java as well as database querying languages
  • Advanced at SQL (e.g., joins and aggregations); working understanding of NoSQL databases;
  • Experience in SPARK programming and exposure to Big Data.
  • Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle
  • Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Knowledge of software applications and technical processes such as Data Engineering and Cloud Methodologies.

  • Exposure to cloud technologies
  • Exposure to Data Platforms such as Databricks.
  • Exposure to Spark Programming.
