Data Scientist

Altenar is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to collaborate closely with Product, Business, and Technology stakeholders to solve complex business problems using advanced data science and NLP methodologies. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional communication skills, deep technical expertise, and a strong track record of designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data science solutions.

This role requires navigating an evolving landscape of data programs and initiatives, proactively uncovering new opportunities, and driving the development of analytical models and data products that support the long-term vision of the Altenar Intelligence Platform (AIP).

Key Responsibilities

Data Science & Analytics

• Design, build, test, and validate machine learning models, including rapid prototyping for strategic insights aligned with the AIP roadmap.
• Apply a range of analytics techniques (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive) to support data-driven decision-making.
• Conduct complex mathematical and statistical analysis using Python and SQL.
• Perform rigorous research and validation of methodologies and model outputs.

Data Engineering & Pipelines

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data collection, ingestion, and storage strategies that ensure efficient data flow and integration.
• Work with ETL pipelines, data streams, and event-driven architectures.
• Utilize and enhance CI/CD workflows for ML systems, including GPU-based training pipelines.

Production & MLOps

• Deliver and maintain production-grade machine learning models and data products.
• Apply DevOps and MLOps principles, including containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and continuous deployment strategies.
• Manage version control and code quality using Git and related tools.

Technical Leadership & Documentation

• Participate in software architecture discussions with emphasis on data handling, model deployment, and visualization.
• Produce clear, comprehensive documentation for all developed solutions.
• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Python, pandas, and SQL, with experience conducting complex data analysis.
• Experience with machine learning algorithms, including building, testing, and validation.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases, ETL operations, and data structures.
• Experience with JupyterHub and modern data engineering tools such as Airflow, dbt, Git, Azure, and Kubernetes.
• Solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Background in Data Analytics, Data Science, or Product Management.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, and familiarity with neural networks, reinforcement learning, and NLP.
• Proven experience training, fine-tuning, and deploying machine learning and deep learning models.
• Understanding and practical application of large language models (LLMs) and recommendation systems.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD for ML, containerization, and orchestration technologies.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools such as Jira.
• Understanding of data ethics, privacy laws, and regulatory frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
