We are seeking a talented and motivated Data Scientist to join our team at ALLO Fiber. The ideal candidate will help develop and support the important data analytics capabilities that will deepen our understanding of the drivers of our business performance and inform our business decisions. This role involves working with cutting-edge technologies, including Microsoft Fabric, to support our AI and data initiatives. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the potential to grow and contribute to the strategic direction of our data infrastructure.
Colorado residents: Typical pay for this role is $90,000 to $130,000 depending on experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and support data analytics capabilities to inform business decisions.

• Play a key role in the development of research methodologies across analytics projects.

• Design, develop, evaluate, and deploy state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning models for tackling business challenges.

• Maintain predictive performance of production models across projects.

• Support the development of data visualizations measuring KPIs for core business operations.

• Collaborate with Data Scientists and Data Engineers to simplify and summarize findings for ALLO leadership.

• Consistently research and apply best practices to enhance skill set.

• Create and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.

• Provide recommendations based on data analysis to support business decision-making.

• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in data science and analytics.

• Mentor junior data scientists and provide technical guidance.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 3 years of work experience in data science, analytics, or a related field.

• Proven track record of working with large, messy real-world datasets.

• Hands-on experience implementing classical statistical techniques.

• Prior experience applying machine learning algorithms.

• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).

• Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.

• Previous experience in a similar industry or domain is advantageous.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

• Proficient in programming languages such as Python and R (SQL and PowerBI are a plus).

• Strong understanding of statistical methods, data mining techniques, and machine learning algorithms.

• Hands-on experience with NLP technologies and handling of unstructured text is a plus.

• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to translate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

• Detail-oriented; critical thinker; strong individual contributor and team player.

• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is desirable.

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative coding practices.

• Great to have but not essential: Master’s degree in a relevant field, strong understanding of text pre-processing and normalization.

• Proven track record of building end-to-end pipelines for production.

• Strong theoretical knowledge of the latest ML/DL/Statistical techniques and ability to pragmatically apply them to real-world problems.
