The Opportunity:

As a data scientist, you’re excited at the prospect of unlocking the secrets held by a data set, and you’re fascinated by the possibilities presented by IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. In an increasingly connected world, massive amounts of structured and unstructured data open new opportunities. As a data scientist at Booz Allen, you can help turn these complex data sets into useful information to solve global challenges. Across private and public sectors—from fraud detection to cancer research to national intelligence—we need you to help find the answers in the data.

On our team, you’ll use your analytical skills and data science knowledge to create real-world impact. You’ll work closely with your clients to understand their questions and needs, and then dig into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You’ll develop algorithms and systems and use the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn sets of disparate data points into objective answers to help clients make informed decisions. Ultimately, you’ll provide a deep understanding of the data, what it all means, and how it can be used.

Work with us as we use data science for good.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Design and configure SharePoint workflows that streamline business processes from document review and approval to records management and content lifecycle operations.

  • Manage SharePoint sites, libraries, and permissions to ensure appropriate accesses and controls and security compliance.

  • Manage SharePoint sites, configuring permissions and access controls, and ensuring sites aligned with organizational standards and security requirements.

  • Create and maintain site templates that promote consistency across the organization, implement retention policies that comply with records management requirements, and coordinate with IT staff on system updates and technical issues.

  • Design and implement metadata schemas, content types, and navigation structures that enable effective information discovery and retrieval.

  • Establish and enforce naming contentions, folder structures, and access controls for network shared drives.

  • Implement cleanup initiatives that remove redundant or obsolete content from shared network resources and develop governance frameworks that guide appropriate use of shared drives versus SharePoint based on content types and collaboration needs.

  • Implement version control procedures across both SharePoint and shared drives that maintain document history and support audit requirements.

  • Configure retention policies and lifecycle management rules that ensure compliance with organizational records management standards.

  • Establish procedures for archiving and preserving important content while removing expired materials.

  • Ensure SharePoint sites and shared drives comply with classification requirements and information security policies.

  • Conduct periodic access reviews and permission audits to verify appropriate access controls.

  • Implement data loss prevention measures and monitor for security incidents or policy violations across both environments.

  • Evaluate new SharePoint capabilities and features for potential organizational application.

  • Develop strategies for reducing reliance on legacy shared drive structures in favor of modern SharePoint collaboration approaches.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance user experience and information management effectiveness through platform optimization and feature adoption.

  • Establish process to capture and preserve institutional knowledge across operational cycles.

  • Develop standard operating procedures for knowledge management processes, train new personnel on workflow procedures, promote adoption of best practices across the organization, and manage transitions when implementing new tools or processes.
