Data Science Senior Analyst
Job Objective
We are seeking a data-driven and analytically minded professional to join the Data Science and AI Engineering team within International Health, Cigna Healthcare. Our team designs and delivers high-impact descriptive and predictive analytics and agentic AI solutions to address complex challenges across global and local healthcare markets.
This role is primarily focused on the UAE, with occasional regional coverage across the Middle East. It delivers advanced data analytics and agentic AI-enabled solutions across healthcare domains – including provider services, clinical operations, healthcare network, and payment integrity – to generate insights that are clinically relevant, operationally actionable, and aligned with value-based care outcomes. In close partnership with peers across the Technology organization, the role is accountable for development and deployment of agentic AI and machine-learning systems, ensuring adherence to data privacy, data residency, and ethical AI standard.
This is an opportunity for a strong data scientist professional to demonstrate deep technical expertise and business acumen by translating complex data into actionable insights and scalable data products that drive measurable value for health insurance stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
- Partner with Product Owners and domain stakeholders to understand business and provider-related challenges, and recommend appropriate analytical approaches
- Support the design and implementation of predictive and prescriptive analytics, including models that inform provider engagement strategies, optimize healthcare networks, improve care delivery outcomes, and strength payment integrity
- Operate effectively within an agile operating model, collaborating in cross-functional squads, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and iterative delivery of analytics and data products
- Contribute to the responsible application of Agentic AI by designing, building, and maintaining domain‑aligned knowledge bases that enable Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), agent‑assisted analytics, and high‑quality, explainable insight generation.
- Design, curate, and maintain high-quality provider datasets by identifying and managing critical data elements (CDEs), ensuring data completeness, accuracy, consistency, and fitness for advanced analytics and AI-driven use cases
- Track, quantify, and communicate the business value and impact generated by deployed analytics and AI-enabled data products
- Work with Data Engineering and Cloud Engineering teams to stay aligned on data ingestion, enrichment, and availability, leveraging both first- and third-party healthcare and provider data
- Collaborate with Data Governance and AI Governance teams to ensure compliance with UAE data protection and AI governance requirements, including data privacy, data residency, and responsible AI principles, drawing on hands‑on experience delivering analytics or AI solutions in regulated environments
Requirements
- Tertiary education in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines
- Knowledge of International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and its application within healthcare and health insurance analytics
- Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis and modeling
- Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience in cloud-based data and analytics platforms, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Databricks, including services such as SageMaker, Athena, or equivalent
- Good understanding of Foundation Models, including their capabilities, limitations, risk considerations, and appropriate enterprise usage patterns
- Hands-on experience with prompt engineering and agent engineering, supporting analytics workflows, RAG-based solutions, insight generation, or decision-support use cases
- Solid knowledge of UAE AI governance and data protection frameworks, with practical experience applying responsible AI principles such as data governance, transparency, risk management, and human‑in‑the‑loop oversight, across analytics or AI initiatives
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to translate analytical and AI-driven insights into clear, business-relevant narratives; additional languages are an advantage
