Join us as a Data Scientist
- This is a great opportunity for a driven, highly skilled data scientist to join our dynamic team and drive innovation in generative AI, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and agentic AI
- You’ll be involved in building intelligent systems, autonomous agents, and advanced analytics solutions that transform user experiences and business processes
- This is a highly visible and collaborative role, and you'll have the chance to work closely with both internal and external stakeholders while making a real impact with your work
- We're offering this role at associate vice president level
As a Data Scientist, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enhance our GenAI-powered smart digital assistant and agentic AI solutions, designing and implementing autonomous AI agents capable of reasoning, planning, and executing multi-step tasks using frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, and model context protocol (MCP). This includes integrating agents with large language models (LLMs) to enable dynamic decision-making, effective tool usage, and context-aware workflows.
You’ll also leverage your expertise in NLP and transformer architectures to build intelligent conversational agents that interact seamlessly with both users and systems, while applying traditional NLP techniques alongside cutting-edge agentic approaches to deliver robust solutions.
In addition, you’ll be:
- Applying strong understanding of statistics, linear algebra, calculus, regression, classification, and time-series analysis to extract valuable insights from data
- Driving data-visualisation efforts using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Cognos, and creating compelling dashboards that make data actionable
- Contributing to the development of a visualisation layer for analytics, making complex insights easier for business users to understand
- Staying ahead of emerging trends in agentic AI to ensure our solutions remain innovative and scalable
We’re looking for someone with strong expertise in agentic AI, including experience with frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, LangFuse for monitoring and observability, and MCP, as well as proficiency in LLMs, transformer architectures, and traditional NLP techniques. You’ll also need to be highly tech-savvy, bringing strong Python programming skills and familiarity with libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn, along with solid experience working in cloud environments like AWS SageMaker, Google AI Platform, and IBM Watson for model training and deployment.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need to have a strong fundamental understanding of data structures and algorithms too such as queues, stacks, graphs, and trees, and the ability to contribute to the system design and architecture of AI solutions.
In addition, you’ll need:
- At least 8 to 12 years of experience in Python and ML libraries, experienced with cloud platforms (AWS, Google AI, IBM Watson) for model deployment, and familiar with web technologies and distributed system
- Solid grasp of statistical concepts, linear algebra, and calculus for optimisation
- Expertise in predictive modelling, including regression, classification, and time-series analysis
- Knowledge of deep learning and neural networks
- Knowledge of managing and operationalising LLMs
- Experience working with LLMs for evaluation frameworks, including LLM-as-a-judge methodologies

What We Do
We’re a business that understands when our customers and people succeed, our communities succeed, and our economy thrives. As part of our purpose, we’re looking at how we can drive change for our communities in enterprise, learning and climate. As one of the leading supporters of UK business, we’re prioritising enterprise as a force of change. We’re focusing on the people and communities who have traditionally faced the highest barriers to entry and figuring out ways to remove these. Learning is also key to our continued growth as a company in an ever changing and increasingly digital world. By setting a dynamic and leading learning culture, our people prosper, and our customers are given the tools to continue to improve their financial capability and confidence. One of the biggest challenges we all face in our future is climate change. That’s why we’ve put it right at the core of our purpose. We want to champion climate solutions with financing and entrepreneurial support, fully embed climate into our culture and decision making, and be climate positive by 2025. We’re committed to using our purpose to break down barriers, drive change and ultimately create a great place to work.
