In Product Validation Engineering (PVE) at Daimler Trucks North America, our department is responsible for all component- and system-level validation work to ensure our products remain industry leaders in reliability and support the lowest Total Cost of Ownership for our customers. This position is part of the newly formed Data Acquisition, Analytics, and Science team, which is focused on enabling efficient access, management, and visualization of vehicle test data. The team provides critical infrastructure, tools, and support to PVE and to internal and external customers to ensure that test data is accessible, reliable, and actionable. In this role, you will work closely with teams across PVE, IT systems, design engineering, Powertrain, and our global network to develop use cases centered around data processes and applications. A key aspect of this position is understanding end-to-end data usage goals and to drive improvements to our current data processes and capabilities

Position offers a starting salary range of $86,000.00 - $110,000.00 USD 

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience​

What You Drive at DTNA  

· Interface directly with internal customers to define use cases that support delivering information in simpler, faster, and more efficient ways.

· Assist in the development of an AI system that integrates data across multiple PVE departments to deliver key insights to engineering teams.

· Define and help implement data governance policies by partnering with IT and global colleagues to ensure secure, role-based access.

· Consult with test engineering teams to gather user requirements and translate those requirements into application features.

· Collaborate with team members to develop data management systems incorporating data from vehicle ECUs and physical instrumentation.

· Present project recommendations, status updates, and impact assessments to local and global engineering management.

· Work within an Agile framework to rapidly develop, test, and deploy solutions.

· Create and maintain clear documentation for requirements, system designs, and implemented solutions

· Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and enhance the sustainability of data solutions

· Serve as a single point of contact to represent the team and department within DTNA, communicating current focus areas and gathering feedback to improve data processes.

· Maintain strong knowledge of how data is used within PVE, design engineering, and global teams to ensure alignment and effective solution development.

· Utilize a mindset of continuous improvement to develop and implement new processes, tools and/or applications to increase efficiencies.

Knowledge You Should Bring

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or applicable field of Engineering and 2-4 years of relevant experience within the vehicle engineering field with focus on data and data usage

· Strong knowledge of vehicle engineering processes, including how data is gathered and used within design and test engineering

· Broad technical experience across data processing, operations, and quality assurance.

· Experience with data acquisition software, tools, and related processes.

· Working knowledge of vehicle systems including ECU’s for Class 6–8 vehicle systems

· Experience with data processing systems, analytical tools, and reporting software.

· Understanding of how data is gathered, processed, and utilized within several areas in DTNA and/or global entities.

· Ability to work effectively with a wide range of colleagues across multiple departments and technical focus areas.

· Ability to clearly communicate complex systems in a concise and understandable manner

· Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to consult with stakeholders and analyze customer requirements effectively

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

· Experience with scripting and scripting platform such as Python, JavaScript, and Bash

· Involvement with modern data processing and storage architectures, with the ability to map and optimize data flows from ingestion and storage through to user-facing consumption.

· Hands-on experience gathering and interpreting physical instrumentation data, including sensors, data loggers, and test equipment used in vehicle validation.

· Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor technical teams, driving successful project outcomes and fostering collaboration across disciplines

· Experience working across multiple areas of Product Validation Engineering (PVE), design engineering, powertrain systems, or IT, with an understanding of how these areas interact with vehicle data and testing processes.
