This position supports the product management team by learning and applying financial analysis, pricing, and product management fundamentals, and by creating and maintaining reports and analytics for Markel Personal Lines products.
What you'll be doing:
- Assist product management and underwriting team with data consolidation and report generation
- Complete tasks as delegated by product management
- Develop general insurance knowledge
- Develop strong analytical skills, with the ability to use multiple sources of data, consolidate and present reports in a manner which is relevant
- Ensure reports and projects are completed with a high level of data quality
- Develop and maintain knowledge of available reporting mechanisms, technology infrastructures and frameworks, data structures and definitions used to produce and maintain operational, transactional and financial metrics in support of assigned departments
- Works with mathematical concepts such as averages and/or variances
- Work with others to prioritize and manage overall MPL data, platforms and processes
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in related field of study such as business, math/applied math, statistics/applied statistics, actuarial science, economics, computer science
- Standard knowledge in the use of data sources, DAX/SQL coding and applications to conduct research preferred
- Problem solving skills to be able to analyze data and review analysis from others and identify and resolve basic data issues
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office: Intermediate - PowerBI, Intermediate – Excel, Intermediate – Word, Intermediate - Access
- Preferred experience of 2+ years in an analytical/reporting environment
