Job Description:
We are looking for a Junior Data Processing Engineer to support data ingestion and transformation pipelines running on the Microsoft Azure platform.
This role is ideal for someone at the beginning of their career who wants to gain hands-on experience with data processing, cloud environments, and production systems. You will work closely with more experienced engineers, following established patterns and gradually taking on more responsibility.
You will collaborate (in English) with external data providers and consumers, as well as internal stakeholders, including our customer business analysts’ team.
Job location: hybrid (Warsaw, Cracow, Gdansk, Wroclaw)
Key Responsibilities
- Support investigation of technical and data quality issues in existing data pipelines
- Assist in onboarding and configuring new external data sources
- Perform data transformations using existing scripts and guidelines
- Help validate data processing results and pipeline correctness
- Monitor production workloads and respond to alerts according to runbooks
- Cooperate with internal teams and external partners to clarify data-related questions
On-Call Duties
- Rotational on-call duty during the workweek, approximately once per week
- Includes one afternoon shift (15:00–23:00)
- Weekend on-call duties occur less than once per month
- On-call focuses on monitoring, incident response, and basic troubleshooting
Mandatory Skills
- Python: Basic programming skills, including:
- understanding simple scripts
- working with pandas
- SQL: Ability to write simple SELECT queries for data checks and troubleshooting
- Linux / Bash: Basic command-line usage (file operations, SSH, simple commands)
- PostgreSQL: Basic database operations (tables, SQL queries) and hands-on experience working with PostgreSQL
using database clients or IDEs (e.g. DBeaver, pgAdmin, PyCharm, VS Code). - REST APIs: Basic understanding of APIs, including making simple requests (e.g., Postman)
- Availability for On-Call duties during late shifts and occasional weekends
Nice-to-Have Skills
- pytest / unit testing basics
- Docker fundamentals and container concepts
- Microsoft Azure: Any exposure or willingness to learn Azure services
- Kubernetes: Basic awareness of clusters and pods
- GitHub: Version control basics, pull requests, and branching
- Monitoring tools: Grafana, Azure metrics, or alerting concepts
- Argo Workflows: Awareness of ETL pipelines
- YAML: Ability to read and make small configuration changes
- Databricks: Basic exposure or monitoring experience
- Agile / Scrum: Familiarity with agile team ceremonies
