Everforth ECS is seeking a Data Platform/Infrastructure Engineer to work in the National Capital Region covering the Pentagon, Falls Church, and Fairfax. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.
The War Data Platform (WDP) is a key initiative within the U.S. Department of War's (DoW) AI-First strategy introduced in early 2026. The WDP separates business and financial data from operational warfighting data, aiming to accelerate the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) on the battlefield. The WDP extends to Unclassified, Secret, and Top Secret environments, and supports collaboration between Combatant Commands, Joint Staff directorates, Senior Executive Service leaders, and operational analysts.
The Data Platform/Infrastructure Engineer architects, deploys, and sustains the cloud-native data platform infrastructure that powers WDP's enterprise analytics, AI model serving, and mission data distribution capabilities across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS environments. This role sits at the convergence of cloud infrastructure engineering and enterprise data operations, directly enabling the ingestion, transformation, and delivery of mission-critical data assets that drive AI-First warfighter outcomes across DoW Combatant Commands, Joint Staff directorates, and operational analyst communities.
• Architects, deploys, and operates War Data Platform (WDP) Core Integration data platform infrastructure supporting mission analytics across Unclassified and NIPR, Secret and SIPR, and Top Secret and JWICS environments.
• Builds scalable data processing foundations using Databricks, Spark clusters, Kubernetes services, AWS GovCloud compute, and enclave-specific storage layers to support ingestion, transformation, and distribution of enterprise data.
• Configures automated ingestion pipelines, transport mechanisms, and cross-domain data pathways using Airflow, API gateways, secure transfer services, and message-queue frameworks.
• Implements data zone architectures aligned to bronze, silver, and gold refinement models while applying encryption policies, identity and access control mechanisms, and audit requirements mandated by Department of War cybersecurity directives.
• Installs and maintains proactive alerting on pipeline performance, throughput, failure conditions, and drift indicators using CloudWatch, Grafana, and Splunk dashboards.
• Conducts infrastructure optimization by tuning cluster workloads, adjusting horizontal and vertical scaling strategies, and evaluating storage partitioning to increase efficiency and reduce operational latency.
• Collaborates with data engineering, tooling, governance, and platform operations teams to synchronize infrastructure capabilities with analytic model demands, marketplace publication workflows, and customer use case throughput requirements.
• Supports Tier-2 platform troubleshooting by diagnosing compute bottlenecks, resolving storage and metadata inconsistencies, mitigating IAM misconfigurations, and producing remediation guides.
• Documents architecture diagrams, pipeline dependencies, operational runbooks, and security controls that strengthen War Data Platform (WDP) Core Integration readiness, accelerate enclave onboarding, and reinforce resilient enterprise data operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Current Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• 3–10 years of experience in data platform engineering, cloud infrastructure engineering, or a closely related technical discipline within federal, DoW, or enterprise data and analytics environments.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification, with demonstrated hands-on experience deploying and operating scalable, secure AWS cloud infrastructure including compute, storage, and networking services in classified or government cloud environments.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate solution.
• Highly developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, with the ability to effectively and professionally interact with a diverse set of stakeholders (from peers to end-users to executive management).
