Function:

Supports the growth, profitability, and operational excellence of the company’s retail fuels and convenience store network by managing, processing and analysing operational, commercial and financial data to drive decision-making, improve performance and ensure data integrity across retail operations. The position provides data insights, performance analytics, forecasting, and process improvements to inform strategic and operational decisions across the retail value chain. This includes fuel sales, pricing, network expansion, dealer performance, customer experience, and marketing programs.

Interpret and provide accurate and timely information in a format that is easily understood and relevant to the decision making process.

Key Responsibilities:

Retail Performance Analysis

  • Understand data structure, data interfaces and how data flows and transforms from one system to another.
  • Collect, validate and maintain retail operational and sales data across all service stations
  • Analyse weekly, and monthly fuel and shop sales, margin performance, and profitability across the retail network.
  • Support Retail Territory Managers with performance insights and actionable recommendations
  • Monitor stock movements, losses and reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and control
  • Identify anomalies in sales, stock or financial data and escalate issues
  • Support pricing analysis and margin optimization for fuels and non-fuel retail offerings
  • Improve data processes, automation and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, SAP, etc.)
  • Ensure alignment with internal controls, audit requirements and data governance standards
  • Collaborate with Supply, Finance, Operations and IT teams on data integration and reporting
  • Implement process controls & improvements for prevention of data quality issues and integrity across key systems.
  • Perform reconciliations & internal databases to ensure the data is accurate and trigger action items if any with respective owners.
  • Monitor KPIs: volume trends, throughput, GP margins, OPEX, customer count, basket size, and loyalty usage.
  • Identify underperforming stations and recommend improvement actions.
  • Lead variance analysis and root-cause assessments for sales deviations and operational performance issues.

Retail Pricing & Market Intelligence

  • Support pricing decisions with competitor analysis , demand patterns, and pricing simulations.
  • Provide insights into market dynamics, regulatory changes, and consumer behavior that impact retail fuels.
  • Track competitor promotions, branding, new site openings, and market share shifts.

Business Planning & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain dashboards (sales volumes, margins, stock levels, performance KPIs) and reports for management (daily/weekly/monthly performance reports).
  • Assist Internal Audit on the bi-annual audit exercise
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and business planning for retail sites.
  • Prepare investment cases and financial models for new site builds, upgrades, and dealer conversions.
  • Execute cost–benefit analyses, NPV/ROI calculations, and sensitivity testing for retail projects.

Process Improvement & Digital Tools

  • Recommend process optimization opportunities across retail operations, supply, and customer experience.
  • Support design and rollout of retail digital solutions (POS upgrades, CRM, loyalty apps).
  • Work with IT and Retail Operations to enhance data quality, automation, and system integration.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Retail Network Development

  • Assist in network mapping, market segmentation, and identification of new retail opportunities.
  • Analyze traffic data, catchment areas, station layouts, and competitor footprint.
  • Support due diligence for dealer onboarding and station acquisitions.

Stakeholder Support

  • Provide analytical support to Retail Operations, Marketing, Supply, Finance, and HSSE.
  • Prepare presentations for leadership team, partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Support retail promotions, loyalty campaigns, and customer experience initiatives with data insights.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Accuracy and timeliness of retail performance reporting
  • Improvement in station profitability and throughput
  • More brand awareness and digitail comunication
  • Speed and quality of business insights delivered to management
  • Successful implementation of process improvements and digital tools

Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience:  

  • Honours Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in business analysis, retail analytics, or commercial roles.
  • Experience in oil & gas retail, FMCG retail, telecom, or financial services is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI/Tableau, and data modeling.
  • Knowledge of pricing mechanisms, retail operations, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with ERP and POS systems is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills in English & Portuguese
