Salary: $125,800 - $188,600, plus annual bonus

The Data Engineering Manager will lead and develop a team that implements and supports the Enterprise Data Lake that will enable data driven decisions, insights and value. The manager will work closely with business leaders to ensure that solutions are providing the intended value and will partner with IT to collect and prepare high quality data. This role requires comfort operating seamlessly between business processes, data analytics and technical application capabilities. Collaboration with key partners, continuous improvement and analytical thinking is essential for success. The manager will provide strong and inclusive leadership in a manner that engages employees, establishes a culture of trust and accountability and creates a strong pipeline of talent. 

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Promotes, monitors and practices a holistic approach for enterprise data that leads to actionable recommendations. 

  • Establishes relationships with business leaders to gain trust, advocate for analytics and data governance and to ensure analytics are producing the intended results. 

  • Oversees activities related to an internal data and analytics portfolio (may include data science, data engineering, data prep, data governance, data stewardship, visualization, alerting and dashboard development). 

  • Oversees and/or performs analysis of data, identification of trends and the creation of executive summary conclusions and recommended action. 

  • Leads with a continuous improvement focus and mindset both within their team and for the broader organization. 

  • Develops and oversees (or participates in) the execution of strategies for advancing analytics maturity of multiple distributed analytics teams.

  • Develops decision guides, standard practices and style guides for data engineering tools to promote consistent and optimal use of the tools. 

  • Establishes governance to ensure consistency and adherence to standards. 

  • Partners with IT to develop strategies for and ensure the health of tools, platforms and processes that enable data and analytics (e.g. vendor/license management, technology roadmaps, steady state support, administration). 

  • Responsible for hiring, training and evaluation of a team of 4-5 data engineering professionals. 

  • Works with staff to develop performance and professional development plans and measures performance based on established criteria. 

  • Creates a culture where people feel valued and have an opportunity to grow and develop.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • 4+ years of experience in a data engineer capacity such as data engineering, business intelligence (visualization/dashboard/reporting), data science, data analysis, business analysis, data governance, or similar roles

  • 2+ years of experience working with cloud infrastructure

  • 2+ years of experience in leading teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced experience with data lake house development and support 

  • Experience with analytics tools/technology (Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, data governance tools) 

  • Experience with data governance implementation 

  • Diverse background that brings experience of having worked across multiple data domains
