The Senior Data Engineering Consultant (Oracle) architects, operates, optimizes, and secures Oracle Database across on prem and cloud (OCI/AWS/Azure). The role leads complex migrations and modernizations, manages executive level escalations, enforces compliance/security, and advances engineering with Python/PL SQL automation, Terraform IaC, and AI assisted insights. Responsibilities span PLM, quarterly patching/CDB PDB Conversion, on call, and vulnerability remediation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead design, implementation, consolidation, and performance optimization of Oracle 19c/21c/26 ai (single instance and RAC) across on prem, hybrid, and cloud (OCI, AWS RDS for Oracle, Azure OCI Interconnect)
- Plan and execute zero/near zero downtime migrations using GoldenGate, Data Guard switchover, Data Pump (expdp/impdp), RMAN duplicate, Transportable Tablespaces, and cross platform conversions
- Implement, operate, and optimize HA/DR with RAC, Data Guard / Active Data Guard, Far Sync, FSFO, and geo redundant failover strategies
- Drive advanced performance engineering using AWR/ASH/ADDM, SQL Plan Management, indexing/partitioning, Exadata features (if applicable), and capacity planning
- Lead P1 incident response, war rooms, and complex escalation resolution (latches, waits, undo/temp, log file sync, buffer busy waits, etc.)
- Own enterprise security: TDE, Database Vault, Audit Vault, Fine Grained Auditing, least privilege, network ACLs; execute CPU/PSU patch cycles and vulnerability remediation
- Automate with Python, Shell, and PL/SQL; enable CI/CD for schema and code; provision via Terraform (OCI/AWS/Azure) and standardize builds
- Integrate AI/ML for anomaly detection, forecasting, and automated tuning recommendations
- Govern PLM: patching (OPatch, Fleet Patching & Provisioning), upgrades, deprecation, and documentation (SOPs/runbooks/architectures)
- Participate in 24/7 on call and collaborate with SRE/DevOps/App teams to meet SLAs, RTO/RPO

Job Duties:
- Lead customer facing incident management and executive communication; own RCA and corrective actions
- Execute RMAN backup/recovery strategies and DR drills; manage catalog and retention
- Operate OEM/Cloud Control for monitoring, baselines, alerts, and compliance; tune SQL with SQL Monitor/ASH
- Manage CDB/PDB multitenant lifecycle, resource plans, and cloning strategies
- Enforce security baselines, vault policies, and key management (HSM/KMS)
- Optimize cloud footprint (licenses, shapes/instances, storage/IOPS, networking, backups)
Professional Development:
- Stay current on Oracle 19c LTS features, RAC/Data Guard/GoldenGate, multitenant, and security
- Pursue Oracle OCP/OCE, OCI, and major cloud/DevOps certifications; deepen Terraform and AI for Ops
Required Qualifications:
- Master's in CS/IT or related; 10+ years as Oracle DBA/Data Engineer at enterprise scale
- Senior experience with RAC, performance triage, and P1 escalations
- Solid documentation and operational governance (runbooks, SOPs, standards)
- Proven delivery of GoldenGate/Data Guard based migrations and complex transformations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: Oracle OCP 19c, GoldenGate, OCI, AWS/Azure, Terraform, Python
- Experience with Exadata, Autonomous Database, and adjacent RDBMS (PostgreSQL/MSSQL)
Technical Skills:
- Core: RAC, ASM, Data Guard/Active DG, RMAN, AWR/ASH/ADDM, SQL Plan Baselines, Partitioning, Multitenant (CDB/PDB)
- Tooling: OEM/Cloud Control, OPatch/FPP, Data Pump, SQL*Plus/SQLcl, SQL Loader, GoldenGate
- Cloud: OCI (DB Systems/Exadata/Autonomous), AWS RDS for Oracle, Azure via interconnect
- Automation: Python, Shell, PL/SQL, Terraform; GitOps/CI CD for DB
- Security: TDE, Database Vault, Audit Vault, FGA, key management
