Job Responsibilities and Requirements

NextGen Data Architecture

  • Key member of development team for RSLI’s nextgen data architecture, which is in the Oracle’s cloud and has big data and rdbms technologies

  • Executes analysis and design of technical solutions that enhance nextgen data architecture

  • Advances development team knowledge in big data technologies

  • Integrate seamlessly with implementation partners to complete conversion into new data architecture

Data Engineering

  • Develop and support ETL frameworks and processes within all layers of the Enterprise Data Platform

  • Troubleshoot data issues through all layers of the Enterprise Data Platform to understand root cause

  • Work with data modelers, data engineers. and BI analysts to provide complete end-to-end-solutions

  • Writes technical specifications and determines time estimates

  • Unit tests development to verify compliance with specifications

  • Assists team members with design, technical, and training issues

  • Reports status regularly to management

Customer Service

  • Analyzes business processes in order to determine and develop technical solutions to meet business objectives

  • Interacts with Business Analysts and staff within business units to determine options for addressing business requirements

  • Supports the existing architecture, deliverables, new product releases, and plans for additional capacity as needed to support business needs

  • Assists users with system testing

  • Rotates with team as on-call contact for production issues where required'

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Information Systems

  • Big Data Technologies (3+ years)

    • Spark, Spark SQL

    • Python

    • Hortonworks / Cloudera platform or similar

  • Other Languages

    • Linux / shell scripting (1+ years)

    • SQL (3+ years)

  • Strong understanding of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing processes and tools

  • Experience with data modeling within Big Data and rdbms, including the Kimball Design Methodology (star schemas, bridge tables, etc.)

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience

  • Insurance data experience

    • Group preferred over P&C, LIMRA

  • Cloud development experience, preferably Oracle (1+ years)

    • Compute instances, Object Storage, BDC

  • Software and languages

    • Oracle PL/SQL

    • Cloudberry

    • OCI Data Flow

  • Financial data experience

    • General Ledger, Sub-ledger, Chart of Accounts

    • IFRS

  • Annuities data experience

Ability to Travel: Up to 10%


 

The expected hiring range for this position is $76,380.00 - $101,970.00 annually for work performed in the primary location (Philadelphia, PA). This expected hiring range covers only base pay and excludes any other compensation components such as commissions or incentive awards. The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be based on several factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.


Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
