The Data Engineering & Business Intelligence (BI) organization serves as a strategic enterprise function responsible for building, managing, and governing Hallmark's data and analytics ecosystem. The team enables trusted, accessible, and actionable data to support decision-making across business functions while ensuring data quality, integrity, and scalability.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO & HOW IT SHAPES OUR SUCCESS

As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in building and evolving Hallmark's enterprise data and analytics ecosystem. You will design and develop scalable data solutions that enable critical business decisions across Retail, Consumer, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Marketing, Digital Commerce, and Finance. You will work closely with business stakeholders, analytics teams, and technology partners to transform data from diverse source systems into trusted, high-quality datasets that power reporting, self-service analytics, advanced analytics, and AI initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale enterprise data modernization efforts while directly influencing how Hallmark uses data to improve customer experiences, optimize operations, and drive growth.


In this role, you will:

  • Build and Deliver Data Solutions Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data products.
  • Integrate data from multiple enterprise applications, cloud platforms, APIs, and operational systems.
  • Build reusable datasets that support reporting, analytics, and machine learning initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data quality, performance, and reliability issues.
  • Work directly with business teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with BI developers, analysts, and product owners to deliver trusted data assets.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and solution design discussions. Improve Data Quality and Governance Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and validation processes.
  • Support data governance efforts by documenting data lineage, business rules, and technical metadata.
  • Ensure consistency and standardization across enterprise data domains.
  • Drive Modernization and Innovation.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve data delivery efficiency.
  • Participate in cloud modernization, AI/ML enablement, self-service analytics, and data platform improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, frameworks, and engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate Across Teams Work within a cross-functional team of data engineers, BI developers, analysts, architects, and business partners.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

The following are required to be considered for this role: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of professional experience
  • At least 3 years of experience designing and implementing data pipelines using Teradata/Snowflake
  • Experience with data warehousing and data integration concepts
  • Knowledge of data governance principles and data management best practices
  • Experience ensuring data quality, validation, and monitoring
  • Experience partnering with business analysts, BI engineers, and stakeholders to deliver analytics solutions
  • Understanding of and experience with retail industry data sources and business processes
  • Experience communicating complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Your resume will stand out if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • SQL proficiency (Teradata and/or Fabric)
  • Data pipeline development experience (ETL/ELT)
  • Python scripting experience
  • Understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehousing
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or modern cloud data platforms
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with business stakeholders

  • The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $90,000. Final compensation varies based on several factors.
