Data Engineer (Power BI, SQL, Cloud Migration)

About the role:

We're looking for a Data Engineer to join our team. This role will support complex technical work involving large-scale data systems, particularly those handling high-volume data structured in cubes and spanning terabytes. You will work on data management, ingestion pipelines, and reporting solutions, contributing to critical cloud migration efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Management & Transformation: Work with diverse data systems, ensuring proper ingestion, transformation, and optimization.
• Power BI & SQL Expertise: Strong experience in Power BI, SQL, DAX, and SSIS to support data ingestion and reporting.
• Ingestion Pipelines: Develop and maintain ingestion pipelines from various source systems into data marts and reporting platforms.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize queries and ensure efficient data processing.
• Testing & CI/CD: Conduct thorough testing and contribute to CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins to ensure seamless ingestion.
• Reporting & Dashboard Development: Participate in Power BI report development to support business insights.
• Cloud Migration: Assist in migrating legacy on-premise systems to Snowflake (cloud).

Project Details:

• Location: 1 day per week in Ballarat.
• Duration: Long-term project 

About you:

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• Strong technical expertise in Power BI, SQL, DAX, and SSIS.
• Experience with large-scale data systems and cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of cloud migration, particularly to Snowflake.
• Ability to develop and maintain ingestion pipelines and optimize data performance.

You’ll be at an advantage if you also have:

• Experience with Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines.
• A background in working with high-volume data (terabytes).
• Previous involvement in cloud data migration projects.
