Your New Role and Responsibilities
The ServiceNow Consultant, reporting to the ServiceNow Product Owner, is a senior member of the ServiceNow Platform team, supporting platform capabilities to meet organisational and customer objectives under sustainment contracts.
This role leads improvement and remediation initiatives to maximise value from the ServiceNow investment, translating business and technical requirements into practical solutions for complex needs.
It provides technical governance, contributes to IT Service Management and Operations best practices, and supports the design of a platform operating model to improve go-live success and end-user adoption. The Consultant evaluates strategic and operational demands against the ServiceNow platform’s architecture, capabilities, and best practices.
Additionally, the role develops and maintains governance, standards, templates, and design patterns for teams delivering outcomes on the ServiceNow platform.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain ServiceNow solutions including components, integrations, workflows, and persona-based designs; contribute to organisational change management, training, and user enablement.
Design and configure ServiceNow modules and integrations, aligning out-of-the-box capabilities with business outcomes, ensuring security compliance, cost optimisation, and high platform performance and reliability.
Champion platform best practices for development, deployment, release, and Evergreen maintenance; remediate customisations, support continuous updates, and enable low/no-code maturity across teams.
Lead and collaborate across teams, working with architects, developers, analysts, and stakeholders to consolidate requirements, support automation, improve integration, and ensure delivery of valuable, documented solutions.
Coordinate platform operations, including resource scheduling, reporting, workload management, process improvement, mentoring team members, and engaging with vendors to maintain a best-practice implementation.
About You
Ideal for an experienced ITSM Specialist with a background as a ServiceNow Solution Architect, Developer, Technical Business Analyst or System Administrator. The role combines business process analysis with deep technical capability, requiring strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and a customer-focused mindset.
Demonstrates creative problem-solving in complex, customised ServiceNow environments, with a preference for low-code, out-of-the-box solutions. Shows accountability for end-to-end design, ensuring stability, scalability, and sustainable outcomes.
Works effectively in agile, collaborative environments, embracing rapid prototyping, partnering with process owners, and proactively identifying priorities without waiting for direction. Strong judgement, ownership, and willingness to step in on critical issues are essential.
Holds or is willing to maintain ServiceNow certifications, such as Certified Technical Architect or System Administrator; bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent, with ITIL certification highly regarded.
Brings hands-on ServiceNow expertise in administration, development, and architecture; skilled in ITSM operations, stakeholder workshops, cybersecurity, documentation, automation, and orchestration. Strong planning, mentoring, and communication skills round out this high-performance profile.
This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen, hold a NV-1 level security clearance.
