We are on the journey to transform our digital capabilities, bringing core business processes, people, data and technology together to enable IKEA to become an even better home furnishing retailer. This journey requires passionate people who embrace change, challenge the status quo, and want to make a difference.
As part of Data & Engineering, we are establishing a new Data Enablement team with a mission to make it easy for coworkers, digital products and AI solutions to find, trust and consume data across IKEA.
The team will build a unified experience layer connecting platforms such as Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Collibra, SAP, M3, and other enterprise systems. Together, we are creating the capabilities that make trusted data easier to discover, understand and use across the organisation.
Job Description
This is not a traditional Data Engineering role.
You will join a newly formed team that is building strategic capabilities for how data is discovered, trusted and consumed across IKEA. Rather than focusing on a single domain or business process, you will help create reusable data foundations that support analytics, digital products and future AI initiatives across the enterprise.
You will work across some of IKEA's most important technology platforms and contribute to capabilities that connect metadata, governance, quality and data products into a seamless experience for data consumers.
This role offers a unique opportunity to combine modern data engineering with platform thinking, helping create solutions that thousands of coworkers and products can benefit from every day.
Most importantly, you'll help shape how trusted data is made accessible across IKEA for years to come.
As a Data Engineer in Data Enablement, you will help build trusted data foundations that power data discovery, governance, self-service and consumption across IKEA.
You will work at the intersection of data engineering, metadata management and platform enablement, helping create capabilities that improve how data is catalogued, governed, connected and consumed. Working closely with Software Engineers, Data Management specialists, architects and platform teams, you will contribute to the underlying data capabilities that make trusted data accessible at scale.
As part of this role, you will:
- Design, develop and operate data pipelines and supporting capabilities such as metadata, lineage, data quality, observability and monitoring.
- Build integrations between platforms such as Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Collibra, SAP, M3 and other enterprise systems.
- Develop and maintain trusted data assets, metadata solutions and reusable data products.
- Create robust CI/CD processes, automation and Infrastructure as Code capabilities.
- Contribute to data quality, governance and trust frameworks that enable confident data consumption.
- Work proactively with architecture, privacy and cyber security functions to ensure solutions are secure, compliant and scalable.
- Collaborate closely with Software Engineers and Data Management specialists to deliver integrated solutions.
- Participate in team activities such as planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, peer reviews and continuous improvement.
- Align and share knowledge with other teams across Data & Engineering.
- Act as an ambassador for good engineering practices, developer experience and a strong engineering culture.
