Position Overview and Purpose

The Data Coordinator serves as a member of the Healthy Start team ensuring that the organization’s needs for data management, analysis, reporting and quality assurance are met. This position supports the Data, Evaluation and Quality Improvement (QI) team reporting directly to the Data, Evaluation and QI Manager. The Data Coordinator is responsible for administrative responsibilities related to data and database management, evaluation processes as well as performance and quality improvement processes.

Data and Database Administration

  • Configure and update central database to ensure staff accessibility, optimize utility, and safeguard data.
  • Supports decision making related to data and database needs.
  • Plans, implements, and maintains data collection protocols and systems.
  • Ensures that staff have ongoing training and support related to their use of the database system to increase user experience, accurate documentation, and user data literacy.
  • Troubleshoots data and database issues, including providing staff support.
  • Develop and maintain custom database queries for program fidelity, quality assurance, and ad hoc requests related to time-bound projects or leadership needs.
  • Clean and validate data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Clean and recode legacy data to ensure sustainability through organizational growth
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for data and related matters—including data sharing agreements, data security, HIPAA compliance and other regulations.
  • Conduct at least annual training related to data privacy protocols, including updating those protocols as new regulations are released each year.

Evaluation and Quality Improvement

  • Conduct data analyses that support Healthy Start program evaluation initiatives
  • Assists the Healthy Start QI process, utilizing internal and external data to assist in developing performance goals.
  • Plans, implements, and maintains database auditing and data cleaning processes.
  • Support QI initiatives through developing and maintaining standardized collection protocols.
  • Develop and maintain sustainability documentation for all data-related processes.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

 

QualificationsPosition Skill and Knowledge Requirements
  • Working knowledge of maternal and child health and public health.
  • Passion for eradicating heath disparities, with demonstrated understanding of the social determinants of health and foundational principles of anti-racist and equity frameworks.
  • Fluency writing SQL database queries is required. Fluency in PostgreSQL environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with data storage and analysis systems such as SPSS, SASS and R is an asset.
  • Computer competency including proficiency in Microsoft Suite software is required.
  • Must be able to interpret and implement frequently changing data collection guidance and protocols.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Must be able to balance synchronous and asynchronous project needs.
  • Excellent project management and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Fluency in English; ability to speak another language is an asset.

Qualifications

5 or more years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, database management, research, and evaluation. Experience with federal projects in nonprofit settings preferred. Advanced degree in the field of public health, epidemiology and/or other evaluation or data analytics training or certification preferred.

Supervisory Relationship

This position performs with a high level of independence, under the direction of the Data, Evaluation and QI Manager.

Physical Demands
  • The work performed is partially administrative work (may be a combination of on-site and remote) requiring sitting, keying, typing and answering phones, with occasional light lifting, carrying, stooping, standing, bending, walking and filing.
  • Some work of the position may be conducted in the field.
  • Intense mental, visual and aural attention is required as the work involves responding to requests, planning or performing work that is fast paced and constantly evolving.
Compensation

$55,000-$60,000 annual, with full benefits, commensurate with skills and experience.
