About this opportunity:
We are looking for a Data Center SME to join our Infrastructure Operations team in Lagos. In this role, you will work on-site in the data center environment to resolve incidents, install and commission hardware, perform structured cabling tasks, and ensure smooth daily operations.
This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong technical skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to work independently in fast-paced operational environments. You will collaborate with a small, experienced team across Nigeria and the Middle East and support additional infrastructure projects within the region.
What you will do:
• Resolve incidents and service requests directly on-site in the data center• Troubleshoot hardware, link, and connectivity issues• Install and commission compute and network racks• Perform fiber and copper cable laying, termination, labeling, and dressing• Conduct site audits and prepare accurate operational reports• Perform data center power testing and ensure safe handling procedures• Execute technical surveys and support floor dimensioning• Manage on-site spare parts, asset tracking, and inventory reporting• Update work logs in ticketing tools and meet agreed SLAs• Escalate abnormal or critical situations to the central project team• Collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve issues• Provide remote support to other engineers when needed• Support additional data center-related projects within the region
What you bring:
• Proven hands-on experience with fiber and copper cable laying, termination, labeling, and dressing• Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, links, and connectivity issues• Practical knowledge of data center power testing and safe power handling• Experience with spare-parts and inventory management, including accurate reporting• Ability to accurately follow Method of Procedure (MOP) instructions• Minimum 3 years of experience in Data Center operations• Minimum 5 years of experience in telecom or IT infrastructure• Good understanding of IP networking fundamentals
• Clear and professional communication skills• Strong attention to detail and precise reporting abilities• Ability to work confidently and independently with minimal supervision• Customer-oriented mindset and professional behavior• Team spirit and reliability.
