Job Description

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The New York City Police Department strives to foster a safe and fair city through the strategic deployment of resources, focusing on both crime prevention and addressing quality-of-life concerns while building lasting community relationships.
The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) oversees critical projects and technological initiatives within the NYPD. They maintain and enhance the department's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and workstations. Notably, ITSD has rolled out various advancements, such as equipping officers with cellular phones applications and digitizing department forms to improve efficiency.
ITSD is seeking a qualified candidate in the position of IT Security Specialist to act as a Data Architect who will complete duties including but not limited to the following:
1. Perform SQL Server database administration functions, including maintenance of multiple environments (development, testing, and production), patching, troubleshooting, SSIS & SSRS deployments and security management.
2. Monitor and analyze data platforms to ensure database is available, secure, healthy, efficient and recoverable as per expectations.
3. Implement and manage the physical databases of mission critical systems capacity planning to determine future storage needs.
4. Collaborate with application owners to develop a seamless process to migrate their schema and data to data platform.
5. Partner with development and quality assurance teams to deliver robust, quality and on-time solutions.
6. Build and manage HA & DR architecture like Clustering, Replication and Always on.

Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position; or,
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
