JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Data and Informatics Products owns the strategy, roadmap and commercialization of products built on Baylor Genetics' genomic and clinical data. The role turns laboratory and platform capability into commercial offerings with a defined buyer, requirements, pricing and success measures.

This role is the product counterpart to the Genomic Technology organization, specifying what capabilities built for internal laboratory use require in order to serve external customers. It works closely with Legal, Compliance, Information Technology and Commercial, and operates within the regulatory and patient consent framework governing use of laboratory data.

Success is measured by products released to external customers, revenue and design partner commitments secured, and a data product roadmap agreed and delivered with Genomic Technology.

This role may evolve as organizational needs change.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and own the product strategy and roadmap for data and informatics offerings, prioritizing against market demand, technical feasibility and commercial return.
  • Translate platform capability into external product requirements, working with Genomic Technology to specify what must be built, and to what standard, for customers outside the organization.
  • Own the full product lifecycle from concept through launch and iteration, including early access and design partner programs that generate market feedback before full commercial release.
  • Establish pricing, packaging and delivery models for data products, informed by comparable offerings and direct customer discovery.
  • Conduct market and customer discovery with laboratories, software vendors and other buyers, and convert findings into product decisions and documented requirements.
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance to ensure every offering operates within applicable patient consent, privacy and regulatory constraints, and to define the controls that make data products defensible.
  • Represent the data product portfolio to executive leadership, including roadmap status, commercial performance and investment requirements.
  • Build the practices and documentation that make data product management repeatable, rather than a series of individual efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support team and organizational objectives.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a life sciences, engineering, computer science or related field.
  • Minimum: 5 years management experience; 10 years of product management domain experience, including at least 5 years developing and commercializing data, software or informatics products; oversees multiple functions or one large function.
  • Demonstrated commercial performance, including products taken from definition to external launch and revenue.
  • Experience translating technical platform capability into customer-facing offerings, working directly with engineering and data science teams.
  • Working knowledge of the regulatory and privacy environment governing health or genomic data.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology or a related discipline.
  • Experience in clinical diagnostics, genomics or a laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with variant interpretation, genomic knowledge bases and clinical decision support.
  • Experience with design partner or early access programs in a regulated setting.

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong commercial judgment, including the ability to size an opportunity and defend the basis for that estimate.
  • Clear written product definition, including requirements engineering teams can build against.
  • Effective influence without authority across technology, legal, compliance and commercial functions.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make decisions on incomplete information while being explicit about confidence.
  • Direct, plain communication with executive and technical audiences alike.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Location: Remote
  • Prolonged periods of computer and video conference work. No lifting requirement beyond normal office equipment.
  • Standard office or home office environment. No laboratory exposure.
  • Travel Requirements: approximately 10 to 20 percent, including customer and partner visits and periodic time in Houston.
  • Occasional work outside standard hours to accommodate partners in other time zones.
