Who We Are Looking For:


Every day, Cambia’s Data & Analytics Platform Engineering team helps advance our mission to make health care easier and lives better. We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the team as a technical lead, helping shape and deliver scalable platform capabilities that enable data engineering teams across Cambia. In this role, you will design, build, and optimize CI/CD Snowflake framework, Airflow orchestration libraries, database environment cloning capabilities, data masking solutions, and row-level access policy frameworks, and create future accelerators and automation related to data engineering workloads. These platform-wide solutions help teams create data products more efficiently and support conventional analytics, agentic analytics, and operational reporting across the organization. Our technology environment includes Snowflake, dbt, SQL stored procedures, PostgreSQL, Snowflake Streamlit Applications, Snowpark Container Services, Open Flow, REST API Development, Docker, and Airflow.

Preferred Key Experience:


We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong background in designing and building reusable Snowflake platform frameworks using Python and Snowflake SQL stored procedures. The ideal candidate has experience building data and analytics platform solutions on Snowflake that improve the velocity and productivity of data engineering teams. Experience optimizing data pipelines, applying advanced SQL skills, working with dbt, and using modern ELT practices is also highly desired. This role is well suited for someone who can break down complex work, provide technical guidance to junior data engineers, and deliver scalable, high-quality, reusable, and performant Snowflake platform solutions in complex enterprise environments.

Qualifications and Certifications:


  • The Data & Analytics Platform Engineer IV should have at least 7-8 years of relevant experience in data platform engineering or data engineering, including senior or lead-level experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • Experience with a business area supported by this position is preferred, such as Provider Network and Contract Management, Digital Solutions, Pricing, Membership, or Claims.


Skills and Attributes:


  • Deep expertise with Snowflake, SQL, dbt or other ETL tools, and ELT/ETL design patterns.
  • Expert-level knowledge of developing Python applications and Snowflake Streamlit applications.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience developing stored procedures using SQL or Python, preferably in Snowflake.
  • Experience in building Python based applications on Snowpark Container Services
  • Demonstrate experience in calling and building REST API applications
  • Familiarity with Airflow, Snowflake Tasks, or similar orchestration tools.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Strong data modeling, pipeline design, and performance optimization skills.
  • Experience migrating from one platform to another and integrating data into new and existing tables in the target platform.
  • Ability to think strategically, understand the full scope of work, and translate big-picture goals into detailed execution plans.
  • Strong data profiling skills, including the ability to identify unique and primary keys and determine cardinality, data type, precision, scale, and skew.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate within the team and across product, QA, and other partner teams.
  • Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance principles.

  • Experience in health care or complex enterprise data environments.
  • Experience with semantic layers, metadata management, or streaming data.

What You Will Do at Cambia:


  • Own delivery of technical projects and mentor junior Data Engineers; drive engineering standards and best practices.
  • Architect, build, tune, and automate scalable Snowflake-based frameworks for Data and Analytics teams, including data privacy, database object management, data engineering pipeline orchestration, database environment management, and RBAC configuration and management.
  • Partner with the Data Modeling team to design scalable data models and warehouse layers that support analytics and operational workloads.
  • Optimize Snowflake performance, including query tuning, compute sizing, and workload isolation.
  • Partner with analytics, product, data engineering, and business teams to deliver high-quality data & analytics platform solutions.
  • Ensure implementation quality and performant code, thorough testing, extensive documentation, and platform observability.

 Pay ranges vary based on the candidate's work location. The expected hiring range depends on skills, experience, education, and training; relevant licensure / certifications; and performance history.

  • Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Idaho: The expected hiring range is $114,000 - $143,000, the full salary range is $114,000 - $186,000, and the bonus target is 15%. 
  • North Dakota: The expected hiring range is $101,000 - $134,000, and the full salary range is $101,000 - $167,000.
