The Role
Build and operate an Azure-based lakehouse data platform, develop and maintain ELT pipelines, model governed data, and create trusted reports and dashboards. Lead migration from legacy SQL Server reporting and Power BI to a centralized data portal. Support internal applications, data quality, business systems integrations, and AI-powered natural-language data access. Collaborate with stakeholders across service delivery, finance, sales, client success, and leadership while managing reconciliation, reporting standards, and platform reliability.
Summary Generated by Built In
Over the past year we've built an internal data platform on Microsoft Azure. It brings data from our PSA, finance, HR, CRM and customer feedback systems into one lakehouse. That lakehouse feeds a live data portal at data.compassmsp.com with service delivery, profitability, retention, TAM, vCIO and operations dashboards, and it's where our internal reporting is heading.
We're looking for a Data & Analytics Engineer to help run and extend the platform, and to lead the consolidation of our reporting onto it. A major focus for the first 12 to 18 months is retiring our legacy SQL Server reporting environment and then Power BI. That means moving every active report onto the lakehouse and the data portal, so the business works from one governed source of truth.
Alongside that, the role is hands-on across the whole data path. You'll keep pipelines healthy, model data, build reports people trust, help build internal apps on the platform, and help add an AI layer so people can ask questions of the data in plain language. You'll work closely with the Director of Data & Analytics and with stakeholders in Service Delivery, Finance, Sales, Client Success and Leadership.
Required Qualifications
Job responsibilities
NOTE: We actively encourage AI-assisted development. Our team uses AI coding assistants every day to write and review code, explore data, draft documentation and get work out the door faster. That means moving faster with them, checking what they produce, and taking ownership of the quality and correctness of everything that ships.
