Role Purpose:
The successful candidate will join the Carbon Management Data team as a Data Analyst responsible for our Carbon Markets datasets including data on carbon offsets and carbon pricing. The analyst will be an expert user of Wood Mackenzie’s data platform and have the responsibility for sourcing, maintenance, quality, and governance of data for their respective domain coverage area. They will be expected to use their commercial awareness and deep understanding of the data to shape how it can be used to provide value to clients, both internal and external. They will use the technology stack at their disposal to implement processes and controls to ensure the data is high in quality and ensure Data Governance best practices are followed. The role will also involve collaboration with key stakeholders across the business in Product, Research, Sales and other data teams such as engineering.
Main Responsibilities:

Be the data subject matter expert for Carbon Markets data.

Take part in high priority projects and initiatives to improve data quality or processes, ensuring the team are operating towards the wider data vision.

Fulfil data requests on time and with high quality, whilst following procedures and best practices. Pull together datasets to derive insight or analysis.

Be a core user of Data platform and ensures best practices are applied to utilise or maintain databases, tools, models, and processes solutions from data sourcing to customer delivery.

Provide specialist skills in data analysis, take responsibility for the ownership or manipulation of data, and support junior colleagues in completing tasks.

Geospatial mapping of carbon market related entities using a GIS platform.

Develop good working relationships with Data colleagues, Research, and Product.

Collaborate with junior colleagues to train, monitor in best practices and ensure their work is completed accurately.

Seek opportunities to automate workflows with Data Engineers.

Work in an agile, collaborative manner to foster an environment of continuous improvement and incremental delivery.
About You:
-
3-5 years of experience of working in a data analyst role or similar.
-
Proficiency in coding languages such as Python and SQL.
-
Proficiency in data visualisation tools, Power BI preferred.
-
Experience of working with Geospatial data and GIS Platforms preferred.
-
Experience of working on data projects autonomously and being proficient at requirements gathering, documentation and stakeholder management.

Knowledge of applying technology solutions to solve business problems.

Full proficiency with MS Office – Excel (including Power Query).

Strong communication skills, including mentoring more junior colleagues.

Ability to problem solve and excellent attention to detail and ability to work on large datasets accurately.

Strong organisation and planning skills and the ability to manage own workload and that of others within sometimes tight timescales.

Commitment to excellence and meeting high quality standards expected by our customers.

Knowledge of Carbon Market data preferred.
