ROLE OVERVIEW

Wesper is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and process-driven Junior Data Analyst to support our healthcare improvement project aimed at closing the diagnosis gap for Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

This role is critical to the initiative’s success, acting as the bridge between raw clinical data and actionable insights. You will work closely with our Program & Implementation Lead and our administering partner (Health Management Associates) to collect, validate, and visualize data from participating primary care clinics. You will help us track our "Model for Improvement" (PDSA) cycles, ensuring our run charts and Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts are accurate and up-to-date.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about using data to improve patient outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data Collection & Validation: Gather patient-level screening and diagnostic data from partner primary care clinics, ensuring strict adherence to HIPAA and data-sharing agreements.
  • Performance Tracking: Assist in building and maintaining run charts and Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts to track screening rates, referral conversion, and diagnostic yield.
  • Reporting Support: Prepare monthly and quarterly data summaries for the project team, our administering partner (HMA), and our sponsor.
  • AI-Enhanced Workflow Optimization: Utilize AI tools and LLMs to automate data cleaning, synthesize qualitative feedback from clinical staff, and accelerate the generation of insights from screening trends.
  • Workflow Support: Partner with the clinical team to support PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) cycles, helping to document and measure the effectiveness of screening process changes in real-time.
  • Data Integrity: Maintain rigorous standards for data accuracy, identifying and flagging anomalies in site-reported data.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a point of contact for clinic staff to facilitate smooth data transmission and resolve reporting bottlenecks.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Health Informatics, Business, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or healthcare operations.
  • AI Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-powered analytics tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, or domain-specific health AI) to streamline data interpretation, summarize findings, and enhance analytical productivity.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data visualization/charting).
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to synthesize complex datasets into clear, understandable trends for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in record-keeping; experience with clinical or sensitive data is highly preferred.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable communicating with clinic staff and internal project leads.
  • Agility: Comfortable working in a remote-first, startup environment where priorities can shift as we iterate on processes
