To drive commercial performance through data-driven insights, analytics, forecasting, and performance management across the sales organization. The role is responsible for transforming complex business data into actionable recommendations that support revenue growth, market share expansion, customer retention, profitability, and strategic decision-making.
The Data Analyst serves as a key business partner to Sales, Trade Management, Customer Service, and Global Commercial teams by monitoring performance trends, identifying opportunities and risks, and ensuring alignment with the organization's commercial objectives. This role plays a critical part in optimizing sales effectiveness, forecasting accuracy, market segmentation, and business performance across all product and customer segments.
ResponsibilitiesPerformance Management & Commercial Analytics
Develop, maintain, and enhance sales performance dashboards and KPI reporting.
Monitor and analyse performance against budget, forecast, and strategic targets.
Evaluate sales performance by trade, product, customer segment, commodity, and territory.
Measure performance across Ocean, Digital, Niche Products, and value-added services.
Forecasting & Planning
- Prepare volume, revenue, and contribution forecasts on weekly, monthly, and quarterly cycles.
- Support annual budget planning and forecasting processes.
- Analyze forecast accuracy and recommend improvements to forecasting methodologies.
- Provide trend analysis and forward-looking insights to management teams.
Strategic Analysis
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer behavior.
- Perform business opportunity assessments and market share analysis.
- Identify customer retention risks and lost business trends.
- Provide analytical support for strategic initiatives, trade development, and growth projects.
- Conduct scenario modelling and business simulations to support commercial decisions.
Customer & Segment Management
- Analyze customer portfolio performance and growth opportunities.
- Support market segmentation strategies across long-term and short-term business.
- Monitor cargo mix, equipment utilization, and customer profitability.
- Identify underperforming segments and recommend improvement initiatives.
Sales Governance & Reporting
- Prepare and present reports for Area Performance Management (APM) meetings and leadership reviews.
- Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance presentations.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across reporting platforms.
- Drive standardization of reporting processes and KPI definitions.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with Sales, Trade, Finance, Customer Service, and Global teams to drive business performance.
- Translate analytical findings into actionable business recommendations.
- Support management in driving accountability through performance reviews and insights.
- Act as a trusted advisor by providing fact-based recommendations that influence commercial outcomes.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Lead or participate in commercial and performance management projects.
- Identify process improvement opportunities through data analysis.
- Support regional and global initiatives requiring analytical expertise.
- Drive continuous improvement of reporting accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness.
Qualifications and Technical Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in data analytics, commercial performance management, sales analytics, or business intelligence.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar analytics tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of shipping, logistics, supply chain, or transportation industry will be advantageous.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced commercial environment and translate data into actionable business outcomes.
