Duties: Under the supervision of the Manager of Athletic & Recreation Services, the Dance Educator Intern is responsible for the following:
- Teach and train a dynamic group of students in a range of techniques and dance styles. Ensure that all students are engaged, motivated, and inspired to achieve their goals in their chosen area of dance.
- Teach a variety of dance styles and techniques to students from beginner to advanced level.
- Dance classes are held Thursday and Friday evenings, and Saturday mornings.
- Follow all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures.
- As part of the internship program, all interns will assist in several Peoria Park District signature events, as assigned.
- All interns will participate in professional development sessions and team-building activities as assigned.
- Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Peoria Park District’s safety program.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- This is a grant-funded position available to both high school-aged individuals up to 15 hours per week and undergraduate-aged individuals up to 20 hours per week.
Essential Functions: The work requires periodic physical exertion. Standing, bending and stooping, and ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
QualificationsEducation: Status as a current High School or College Undergrad student. Must be at least 16 years old.
Experience: Previous dance experience preferred.

- Qualities of being energetic, driven, creative, and dependable.
- Interest in working with children and families.
- Ability to communicate verbally with both children and adults.
- Ability to follow instructions and share feedback.
