Full-time, 10-week summer internship program offered in Milwaukee, WI, Franklin, WI, or New York City, NY.
- Aligned and hired to specific teams based on abilities and interests.
- Cybersecurity Internship looks for candidates passionate about identifying malicious code, forensics analysis, incident handling, and more.
- Conduct risk assessments, support identity management, and deliver security awareness training.
- Capture and analyze security metrics and participate in logging, incident response, and vulnerability management.
- Hands-on work experience with cybersecurity tools.
- Minimum qualifications: Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or related field, GPA 3.0 or higher, previous work/class experience.
- Preferred skills: Knowledge of risk analysis, identity management, security awareness, incident response, digital forensics, administration of cybersecurity tools.

- Information Risk & Cybersecurity - The IRC team works to keep confidential information and technology secure, so that Northwestern Mutual can protect its brand and reputation, continue growing, and adjust quickly as business conditions change.
- Workplace Identity & Reliability eXperiences- The WIRX team maintains a strong threshold for client and associate experience by ensuring that information is secure, reliable, and a smooth experience for any user.
- Engineering Solutions Delivery- An intern will have an opportunity to assess technology against cybersecurity standards to ensure solutions are crafted, developed and deployed with security as a priority. Additionally, this intern will work side-by-side with engineers to identify and address security vulnerabilities in code and systems.
- Infrastructure Cloud Services- Working closely with ICS team within cybersecurity domains, engineering security solutions for Northwestern Mutual.

Minimum Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field from an accredited college or university
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- Previous work or classroom experience in one or more of the following is useful: Java, Python, C++, C#, PL/SQL, VB.Net, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, or database development (Oracle, MS SQL, or MySQL)

Preferred skills and Proficiencies
- Previous cyber security/technology internship and/or relevant project experience
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Displays analytical and problem-solving ability
- High degree of self-motivation, passion, and strive to learn
- Ability to balance multiple priorities
- Knowledge of SharePoint administration a plus
- Ability to recognize network, software, and hardware issues
- General database knowledge, basic SQL, and Object-oriented design (OOD) skills
