About the Position
We're looking to add a passionate Cybersecurity Analyst to our Hong Kong or Singapore office to help protect Jane Street’s employees, data and infrastructure from the wilds of the internet. Our cybersecurity analysts are responsible for developing and using monitoring tools to guard the firm, as well as handling incident response and remediation when a threat is found.
Our team considers itself to be tapped into the developments happening within the broader cybersecurity space, and able to tell the difference between the latest cool hack by security researchers and what actually matters in our day-to-day. In this role, you’ll carefully consider the context of our decisions as we think about the trade-offs we’re making in our approach to resolving cybersecurity issues.
We’ll expect you to apply a methodical approach to performing unstructured investigations to locate and repair the source of a security issue. While there will be an element of operational coverage, your time will also be spent on projects to improve our detection capabilities, automation and efficiencies, as well as performing threat hunts, allowing you to grow your skill set and impact.
You will also act as an ambassador of best practices to the rest of the firm. All of our team members understand and practise good personal cybersecurity hygiene, and are able to talk to others about it. A key component of doing well in this position is bringing everyone else along with you on the cybersecurity journey, and you should be excited to learn from your colleagues and pass that learning on to new analysts.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or equivalent experience preferred
- An avid follower of cybersecurity news
- A strong scripter; you should be able to write scripts that are clear, general and could be integrated into existing tooling using a fully featured programming language
- Comfortable and interested in managing your code and configs in version control, and have a working knowledge of your editor (we don't care which though)
- Familiar with threat modelling and able to clearly communicate your understanding of the trade-offs we’re making to internal stakeholders
- Able to explain the cybersecurity decisions you’ve made in your own life and how you’ve approached thinking about those decisions
- Able to adapt to changing scenarios and make challenging decisions under pressure
- Humble attitude about what you know and don’t know; not afraid to ask questions and admit mistakes
- Curious problem solver with a positive, collaborative attitude
- Programming experience is a plus
- Fluency in English required

What We Do
Jane Street works differently. As a liquidity provider and market maker, we trade on more than 200 trading venues across 45 countries and help form the backbone of global markets. Our approach is rooted in technology and rigorous quantitative analysis, but our success is driven by our people.
Our bright, beautiful offices in the heart of New York, London, Hong Kong, and Amsterdam are open and buzzing with conversation. We come from many backgrounds and encourage travel between offices to share perspectives. Some of our best ideas come from bumping into a visiting colleague at the office coffee bar.
Markets move fast. Staying competitive as we’ve grown has required constant invention—of new trading strategies, technology, and processes. We’ve found this is easier when you hire humble, kind people. They tend to help each other, and prioritize teamwork over titles.
We invest heavily in teaching and training. There’s a library and a classroom in every office, because deepening your understanding of something is considered real work. Guest lectures, classes, and conferences round out the intellectual exchanges that happen every day.
People grow into long careers at Jane Street because there are always new and interesting problems to solve, systems to build, and theories to test. More than twenty years after our founding, it still feels like we’re just getting started.
