Overview
We are looking for an intern to join our Cybersecurity team. You will be responsible for a Cybersecurity project that will increase SRAM's ability to protect its information systems. You will help to protect SRAM from cyberattacks by monitoring SRAM's systems and evaluating threats as they arise. You will help to defend an SRAM's computer hardware, software and other systems from theft, loss and other cyberattacks.
Responsibilities
- Monitor information security systems for information security related threats and alerts.
- Calibrate security information and event management (SIEM) systems and vulnerability assessment tools to minimize false positives.
- Perform penetration testing and auditing on information systems.
- Coordinate remediation activities across various functions.
- Stay abreast on information security trends and news.
- Investigate user reported activities and phishing emails.
- Respond to cybersecurity questions from employees.
- Generate regular reports for cross-functional groups and management.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Relevant coursework in network security, cryptography, and information assurance.
- Basic understanding of IT concepts such as networking, firewalls, proxies, SIEM, antivirus, and intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS).
- Basic understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bourne).
- Knowledge of common cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills in English.
- Analytical thinking: analyzing data to identify cause-and-effect relationships.

The compensation range for this role is $17 - $25 per hour based on skills and experience level.
