About the role
We’re looking for you—A self-starter. A go-getter. Someone that’s passionate about farmers. Someone who sees their success as your success. This is your chance to be part of a positive disruption in the farming industry, directly shaping how Halter’s technology is used on farms across North Canterbury and also the West Coast of the South Island. This is a maternity contract (minimum 6 months) with the scope to extend should we have the farms to support another full-time role.
Imagine looking back in a few years, knowing you played a key role in transforming farming. You’ll be part of the team who helped farmers move beyond 3am alarms to get cows in, putting up fences, measuring pasture, or detecting heats. You’ll be guiding them into a new era of farming efficiency and sustainability, making sure they extract every bit of value from Halter.
You will find yourself on the road most days, deeply understanding a farmer's goals and ambitions, then helping them utilise Halter to achieve them. You won’t always find a playbook, that’s the nature of paving a new industry. You’ll be engaging with the top industry experts in your region, helping educate and build relationships with Vets, Consultants and bankers alike. You’ll also be critical in growing Halter’s impact within the region, sourcing leads and finding opportunities to expand across existing farms.
You’ll be part of an extremely driven and enthusiastic broader NZ customer team, that holds responsibility for growing and retaining our NZ farmer base, with a number of other reps locally based to support you every step of the way.
Could this be your next adventure? If you care deeply about farmers and their success, if you thrive under pressure and stay cool when challenges arise, this could be the perfect fit. You’re someone who takes pride in delivering a world-class customer experience and won’t settle for anything less. Building strong, authentic relationships with farmers will be second nature to you—you’ll understand their needs and help them reach their goals with Halter’s cutting-edge technology. You’re eager to make a real impact, always ready to take initiative and turn your ideas into action.
This won’t be the easiest role you’ve ever had, but it could be the most fulfilling and impactful work of your career.
Location: This candidate would ideally be based around the North Canterbury and West Coast regions. Frequent travel is required to meet with farmers daily.
What your day could look like
- Customer Success & Revenue Growth: You’ll work directly with farmers in your region, ensuring they get the most out of Halter. You’ll help them achieve their goals and show them the real impact Halter can have on their farming business. Your efforts will directly contribute to retaining and expanding Halter’s revenue in the region.
- Account Management: You’ll take the lead in engaging with farmers, and building genuine and long-lasting relationships. You’ll know exactly when and how to step in to help them maximise Halter’s potential for their business.
- Relationship Management: Reaching beyond our customers to those who have an impact on the farming community. You’ll be known in the Rural Professional community and continue to grow these networks to help articulate how Halter can be important for them and their customers.
- Value Optimisation: Your role will focus on driving profitability and value for farmers by identifying opportunities to optimise their operations with Halter’s technology. You’ll collaborate with them to develop strategies that increase efficiency, improve pasture management, enhance reproduction results, and ultimately boost their bottom line. You’ll be the trusted advisor they turn to for insights and recommendations that lead to real, measurable improvements.
- Growth Initiatives: You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to continuously improve and refine the Halter customer experience. You’ll always be on the lookout for ways to innovate and upgrade our service, ensuring Halter stays ahead of the curve.
- By excelling in this role, you’ll have a significant impact on every aspect of a farm’s operation—from profitability and reproduction results to animal health, pasture management, time management, and overall farm goals. Very few roles offer such a comprehensive influence on farming outcomes.

- You’re an innovative thinker with a proven track record of implementing solutions that deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
- You’re data-driven and understand the nuances of managing customer touchpoints and driving success.

- You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and love working with a high degree of autonomy.
