Customer Solution Engineer – Solution - Experienced

About the role
As a Customer Solution Engineer – Solution, you will provide technical expertise to the Sales and Customer Solutions Engineering teams, translating customer requirements into optimal and commercially viable KONE solutions. As part of KONE’s early engagement team, you will help shape customer requirements and building specifications, ensuring KONE solutions are considered from the early stages of a project.
The role focuses on non-standard and complex tender opportunities, taking ownership of the overall solution, including products, services, integrations, specifications, costs and lead times. You will collaborate with Sales, Supply Line and other local, Area and Global teams to develop the right solution. You will use your strong understanding of KONE solutions and services across different business lines and customer segments, while considering the full solution lifecycle, including engineering, materials, installation, project management and maintenance.
What you will do
- Work closely with Sales to develop optimal technical solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Translate customer needs into clear technical specifications and solution proposals.
- Develop and coordinate solutions across KONE business lines, including elevators, escalators, doors and services.
- Manage solution planning, including costing, specifications, lead times, technical feasibility and installation requirements.
- Coordinate with Supply Line, Installation, Maintenance, Project Management, Sourcing and other stakeholders to develop complete solutions.
- Conduct or coordinate traffic analyses, energy calculations and technical feasibility assessments.
- Ensure proposed solutions are practical to install, maintain and support throughout the product lifecycle.
- Ensure solutions comply with applicable local codes, regulations, safety, environmental requirements and KONE engineering standards.
- Prepare technical tender submissions, compliance and deviation lists, layouts and technical documentation.
- Provide technical input into pre-tender and pre-booking reviews, including costs, lead times, risks and contractual requirements.
- Evaluate technical risks and identify appropriate solutions for non-standard requirements.
- Support complex projects through the engineering process and ensure a smooth handover to the project engineering team.
- Work with third-party suppliers where required and coordinate technical inputs for external quotations.
- Provide technical support and training to Sales, Installation and Maintenance teams.
- Contribute to the development and standardisation of KONE solutions and share knowledge across the Customer Solutions Engineering network.
- Support modernisation projects, including component upgrades, full replacements and existing building lift projects.

- Understanding of new construction and building modernisation processes.
- Good knowledge of relevant technical codes, standards, environmental and sustainability requirements.
- Experience with engineering tools such as CAD and BIM.
- Understanding of solution costing, including materials, engineering, installation and maintenance.
- Experience with site surveys and existing building modernisation or installation methods.
- Basic understanding of competitor technical solutions.
- Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a high level of attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of English and strong IT skills.
