About the role 

The Cross‑Platform Mobile Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high‑quality mobile applications that support Sigma Group’s global event portfolio, including major iGaming events. This role focuses on delivering seamless, performant, and engaging mobile experiences across iOS and Android using modern cross‑platform frameworks.

The ideal candidate combines strong mobile engineering expertise with a passion for innovation, including the integration of AI‑powered features, automation tools, and intelligent user experiences that elevate event engagement and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities  

Mobile Application Development

• Designs, builds, and maintains cross‑platform mobile applications using frameworks such as React Native, Flutter, or similar technologies.
• Implements intuitive, responsive, and accessible mobile interfaces that enhance attendee, exhibitor, and partner experiences.
• Ensures mobile apps are optimised for performance, reliability, and scalability during high‑traffic event periods.

Architecture, Code Quality & Best Practices

• Develops clean, maintainable, and testable code following industry best practices.
• Contributes to mobile architecture decisions, component libraries, and shared design systems.
• Implements automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools to ensure high‑quality releases.

AI Tooling & AI‑Driven Mobile Features

• Integrates AI‑powered capabilities into mobile apps, such as:
  • personalised event recommendations
  • intelligent search and content discovery
  • AI‑driven matchmaking between attendees and exhibitors
  • automated content summaries, translations, or highlights
  • conversational interfaces and chat‑based assistance
• Supports the introduction of AI tooling to improve mobile development workflows, including automated testing, code generation, and performance diagnostics.

Events & iGaming Mobile Experience

• Builds features tailored to live events and iGaming audiences, including:
  • real‑time schedules and notifications
  • interactive maps and navigation
  • exhibitor and sponsor engagement tools
  • live content feeds and session interactions
• Ensures mobile apps remain stable and responsive during peak usage at major events.

Security, Compliance & Data Protection

• Implements secure‑by‑design principles across all mobile features.
• Ensures compliance with data‑privacy regulations and responsible‑gaming requirements where applicable.
• Collaborates with backend and security teams to ensure safe data handling and API integration.

Collaboration & Cross‑Functional Support

• Works closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, backend engineers, and data teams to deliver cohesive mobile experiences.
• Participates in sprint planning, technical discussions, and product roadmap sessions.
• Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers when needed.

Qualifications 

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong proficiency in cross‑platform mobile frameworks (React Native, Flutter, or similar)
• Solid understanding of mobile UI/UX principles and responsive design
• Experience integrating RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and real‑time data streams
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and mobile‑friendly AI integrations
• Strong debugging, performance optimisation, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in fast‑paced, event‑driven environments
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Experience

• Educated to degree level in a numerate or technical discipline, Masters preferred.
• 5-7+ years of technical experience in mobile engineering or cross‑platform development
• 1-2+ years of management or mentorship experience, such as leading mobile projects or guiding junior developers
• Experience building mobile apps for large‑scale events, digital entertainment, or iGaming platforms
• Proven track record of integrating AI‑powered features or using AI tooling in development workflows
• Experience with cloud‑based mobile services, analytics, and push‑notification systems
• Background working with distributed or hybrid teams
