Our mission

We're making Africa the first cashless continent.

In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.

We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across 9 countries and are growing fast.

Our goal is to make Africa the first cashless continent and that's where you come in...

How you'll help us achieve it

The Cross-Border Supervisor will supervise and ensure the optimal functioning of a team of Cross-Border Distributors in specific zones, ensuring they meet set operational objectives and carry out distribution in accordance with Wave’s principles. Distributors spread the word about Wave's money transfer solution in and out of the following countries: Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Niger, Sénégal, Burkina Faso. They educate customers on international transfers via Wave and provide them with coaching so they can transfer money on their own. The Cross-Border Supervisor will deploy Distributors in strategic areas where our target customers do business, helping us reach our objective of creating an aggressive sales force.

In this role you’ll;

  • Ensure distributors have all the resources and knowledge they need for distribution purposes, including a strong understanding of Wave cross-border solutions: fees, the cashback, the corridors, the transaction limits, etc.
  • Develop a team of empowered Distributors who exemplify Wave values and fully own the cross-border growth of their respective cities.
  • Be responsible for Wave cross-border user acquisition and transfer volume in a given area.
  • Manage a team of 10 to 15 Distributors.

  • Maintain the quality of our distributor team through great hiring, frequent performance monitoring and coaching.
  • Grow our number of monthly active cross-border users by boosting the number of transfers and conversions generated by distributors, while maintaining a stable sender retention rate.
  • Create strategies to target groups with a strong need for cross-border services, such as diaspora communities, migrant workers, traders and families receiving money from abroad.
  • Review cycle targets with your lead and give feedback on any adjustments needed.
  • Escalate to upper management any challenges and/or blockers you may face while you execute targets, and ask for help and guidance.
