The Crop Division of Great American has been helping generations of farmers take control of their risks since 1915. The D​ivision is also one of a select few private companies authorized by the United States Department of Agriculture Risk Management Agency (USDA RMA) to write MPCI policies. With six regional offices throughout the U.S., the teams provide tremendous expertise in the specific needs of farmers and crops.

Great American's Crop Division is seeking a Senior Underwriting Product Representative or Underwriting Product Specialist to join our team. Position level and compensation will be based on the selected candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. 

This position is based in our Cincinnati, OH headquarters or one of our regional offices located in Albany, GA; Peoria, IL; Eau Claire, WI; Lawrence, KS; Fargo, ND; or Fresno, CA. Great American’s culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be onsite four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core inoffice days are Tuesday–Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs. 

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Develops, maintains, and conveys underwriting system training materials and job aids to support consistent and efficient system processing for internal staff.  

  • Develops and delivers training programs for agency partners on GreatAg system enhancements, process updates, and new functionality, including specialized seasonal training sessions.  

  • Learns and utilizes applicable reporting, analytics, and technology platforms, including Tableau and other third-party systems, to support underwriting operations, training initiatives, and process improvements.  

  • Represents the underwriting function in cross-functional meetings and projects, collaborating with Claims, Compliance, Information Technology, and other business partners to support operational objectives and system enhancements.  

  • Serves as a subject matter resource on underwriting processing systems, workflows, and product-related processes, providing guidance and support to underwriters, agencies, and business partners.  

  • Identifies opportunities to improve underwriting forms, and system functionality by recommending and implementing solutions that enhance operational efficiency. 

  • Trouble-shoots system issues and works with IT resources to fix and improve system applications and address programming needs based on RMA changes and other business needs. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 

  • Generally, a minimum of 5 years of crop insurance underwriting, product support, technical training, or agency-facing experience. 

  • Strong knowledge of MPCI programs, RMA regulations, policy provisions, underwriting workflows, and related crop insurance processes. 

  • Ability to interpret and communicate regulatory, procedural, and product changes to internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Proficiency with Excel, underwriting systems, and other business applications, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Senior-level, lead, or subject matter expert experience supporting underwriting operations. 

  • Preferred experience in collaborating with IT partners regarding system enhancements, leading and testing of IT tickets. And troubleshooting system issues related to crop insurance system applications. 

  • Familiarity with private crop insurance products in addition to MPCI and established relationships within the crop insurance industry (preferred).

$70,000.00 -$115,000.00
