In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating customer creditworthiness, managing credit limits, and leading collection efforts to optimize DSO and minimize bad debt. The Credit Manager serves as a key business partner across Sales, Accounts Receivable, and Finance; ensures regulatory compliance with PACA (Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act) , FDACS (Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services), and related agricultural credit regulations; and produces annual credit risk reporting.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Review and process customer credit applications, credit limit increase requests, and credit hold override requests using Blue Book Produce Reporter, Dun & Bradstreet, FDACS, Moody’s, Sunbiz, and trade references; obtain required internal approvals.
- Maintain credit limits and monitor portfolio risk exposure based on credit bureau data, financial reports, and payment history. Prepare and monitor monthly AR reports including aging summaries and DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) metrics.
- Coordinate collection efforts and dispute resolution with Sales personnel and customers.
- Pursue PACA, FDACS (agricultural bond claims), DRC (Dispute Resolution Corporation), bankruptcy court and other legal action on delinquent, doubtful and bankrupt accounts. Maintain subscriptions and company profiles with each of the agencies to ensure service continuation.
- Establish and maintain credit with vendors across business units. Administer and maintain credit cards with certain vendor retailers and wholesalers.
- Analyze existing and potential commercial property credits as requested by the Asset Management Team.
- Publish annual Credit and Collection Management Report covering receivable agings, carrying costs, bad debt, and deductions/allowances by business unit, along with a risk assessment of all customers, vendors, banks, insurers, and commercial property tenants.
- Reconcile all AR-related GL accounts including sales manager allowances, bad debt, and clearing accounts. Develop and maintain credit policies and procedures to manage risk, improve collection efficiency, and align with the company’s financial goals and risk tolerance.
- Prepare and/or review monthly AR agings submissions to Blue Book Produce Reporter and Moody’s. Maintain credit agency subscriptions and Duda company profiles for Blue Book, Moody’s, D&B, and DRC. Submit annual financial statements as requested.
- Prepare all interim and year-end audit documentation requests on credit and receivables including agings, delinquent account statuses, un-invoiced order reports, order holds, bad debt write-offs, and commercial property credit analyses.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related field is required
- 5+ years of experience in credit management or a related financial role
- Agricultural or food industry experience strongly preferred
- NACM Advanced Credit Designation preferred
- Experience with credit analysis tools (Blue Book Produce Reporter, D&B, Moody’s, Sunbiz, and FDACS databases)
- Proficiency in ERP/Accounting systems, AR subledger management, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
- DRC (Dispute Resolution Corporation) processes for cross-border dispute resolution preferred
