About The Role

We are seeking a diligent, proactive, and confident Property Credit Controller to join our dynamic Property Management team in Newcastle. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong communication and organisational skills to play a key role in the financial performance of a diverse commercial property portfolio.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Property Management and Asset Management teams, ensuring the timely collection of rent, service charge, and insurance payments in accordance with lease terms and company policies. You will be responsible for monitoring tenant accounts, managing arrears, reconciling payments, and maintaining accurate financial records to support effective cash flow management.

In addition to core credit control duties, you will have the opportunity to build and maintain positive relationships with tenants and clients, assisting in the resolution of queries and supporting the wider team in delivering exceptional client service. This role provides excellent exposure to a wide range of commercial assets and high-profile investors, offering a strong platform for professional growth within one of the UK’s leading property management teams.

What you will be responsible for

Core Responsibilities

Rent and Service Charge Collection

  • Issue rent, service charge, and insurance demands in accordance with lease terms.
  • Monitor incoming payments and chase any overdue balances promptly.
  • Manage tenant accounts, ensuring all receipts and adjustments are correctly posted.
  • Prepare aged debt reports and liaise with property managers on outstanding arrears.

Tenant Communication and Relationship Management

  • Contact tenants regarding overdue payments in a professional and diplomatic manner.
  • Resolve payment or billing queries quickly and efficiently.
  • Build positive relationships with tenants to encourage timely payment and open communication.
  • Collaboration with Property and Asset Management Teams
  • Work closely with property managers and surveyors to discuss arrears, tenant issues, and lease terms.
  • Provide financial updates and recommendations to help inform management decisions.
  • Liaise with solicitors and debt recovery partners where necessary.

Financial Reporting and Administration

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date tenant ledgers and payment records.
  • Assist with month-end processes, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Support the team with internal and external audits.

Process and System Management

  • Use property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI) to record and monitor transactions.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to credit control processes to increase efficiency.
What experience you will need

Qualifications and Experience

  • Preferred experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or property finance, preferably within a commercial property management environment but training will be provided.
  • Experience in managing arrears, issuing rent demands, and reconciling tenant accounts.
  • Confident in liaising directly with tenants, clients, property managers, and solicitors to resolve payment or billing queries.
  • Skilled in preparing and maintaining aged debt reports and cash collection forecasts.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in property management and accounting systems such as Yardi, Qube, MRI, or Tramps (training will be given)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data accurately.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain precise financial records.

  • Sociable and approachable, enjoys working with others and has a collaborative approach working as part of a team. Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships across the wider Knight Frank network.
