The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join our Finance team on a 12-month maximum term contract.

Reporting to the Credit Team Leader, you will be responsible for managing customer receivables, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring timely collections across a large commercial and industrial customer portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and customer-focused credit professional who enjoys working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage collections activities and ensure timely recovery of outstanding debts.

  • Negotiate payment arrangements in line with company credit policies.

  • Maintain and manage a large commercial and industrial receivables ledger, with SME support as required.

  • Conduct account reconciliations and investigate payment discrepancies.

  • Handle customer enquiries, disputes and complaints professionally and efficiently.

  • Liaise with internal teams, including Customer Service and Operations, to support seamless customer outcomes.

  • Monitor credit risks, identify trends and escalate issues as appropriate.

  • Process administration, liquidation and debt recovery matters in accordance with company procedures.

  • Support banking and receivables activities as required.

  • Provide backup support to the wider Credit team during peak periods.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in credit control and collections.

  • Strong accounts receivable and credit management experience.

  • Experience working with ERP systems.

  • Intermediate Excel skills.

  • Experience assessing credit risks for both new and existing accounts.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and customer service skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and time management capabilities.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.

  • Experience with liquidation, litigation or insolvency processes.

  • Utilities industry experience is advantageous but not essential.
