The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join our Finance team on a 12-month maximum term contract.
Reporting to the Credit Team Leader, you will be responsible for managing customer receivables, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring timely collections across a large commercial and industrial customer portfolio.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and customer-focused credit professional who enjoys working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage collections activities and ensure timely recovery of outstanding debts.
Negotiate payment arrangements in line with company credit policies.
Maintain and manage a large commercial and industrial receivables ledger, with SME support as required.
Conduct account reconciliations and investigate payment discrepancies.
Handle customer enquiries, disputes and complaints professionally and efficiently.
Liaise with internal teams, including Customer Service and Operations, to support seamless customer outcomes.
Monitor credit risks, identify trends and escalate issues as appropriate.
Process administration, liquidation and debt recovery matters in accordance with company procedures.
Support banking and receivables activities as required.
Provide backup support to the wider Credit team during peak periods.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Minimum 5 years' experience in credit control and collections.
Strong accounts receivable and credit management experience.
Experience working with ERP systems.
Intermediate Excel skills.
Experience assessing credit risks for both new and existing accounts.
Excellent communication, negotiation and customer service skills.
Strong attention to detail and time management capabilities.
Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
Experience with liquidation, litigation or insolvency processes.
Utilities industry experience is advantageous but not essential.
